Madge was at the Raiders in 23 so Pappa knows his style.

Would prefer Riki being the one pushed out.

Interesting because Piaks is really good mates with Walsh and Carrigan... and he looks like he's actually been trying on the field so wouldn't assume he one of the ones complaining.

But we still keep Riki, go figure. Piakura has been shuffled around, started to show signs of life and then got shuffled around again and can now leave? Thanks Maguire.
 
Piakura started every game he played last year and was shocking, he hasn't helped himself. He definitely has more potential than Riki but they are both very poor. Laughable how bad the second row is.

Hopefully it's a sign the club is gonna do something about the second row, as opposed to just having no cap space and will play Gos there next year lol

Classic BHQ.

People have been whinging about Piakura and the money he's on for years on here.

Then when there is a "report" he may leave, the complaints about that start.

If Piakura is one of those players that doesn't suit Madge's style, then he should absolutely look elsewhere (as Ikin suggests)
 
I'm not fussed about Piakura tbh. I've reached the point where I think we have and abundance of potential in the squad. If we have to lose a few to get some rock solid performers then I think it's for the best. Potential can only be reached if we lift our base level to begin with and our base level is way too low.
 
As much as Piakura can be completely clueless and unaware, he has undeniable talent. He's been very unlucky and while a lot of blame should rightfully fall to him, I feel like his lack of development is at least partially the club's fault too. Surely it's not hard to build a system where a talented second rower receives quality ball in attacking opportunities semi-frequently. Look at Fitzgibbon (average at best 2RF) playing inside Ponga during his first few seasons at the Knights.

Unfortunately, wouldn't be surprised at all to see Piakura go to a team with exceptional structure and well-defined roles within a solid system and become one of the top attacking second rowers in the game. We don't seem to be using him properly. Reynolds should be having a field day having someone like Piakura running lines off his hip.

Classic Foordy, can’t seem to understand a forum has hundreds of people with hundreds of different viewpoints.

If storm get interested then broncos should know they ****ed up.

I think Blore is off contract end of 2026 (I dont want him, looks pretty mediocre)... Piaks more of a left sided player (where Blore currently plays) and might want to go somewhere for development.

I know dogs were interested, but I think storm got Howarth when he and Piaks were both coming through, but you'd think they could be interested in him and he'd be an absolute weapon in the storm system.

I can only think that Piaks is seen as someone easier to move on with the receiving team taking full freight.

He does look a little undersized for an edge player in the modern game... I think his stats suggest he's bigger than what he looks when he's actually playing ie. he doesnt play like a +100kg second rower in NRL.

I get the sense that Madge is thinking Willison to the edge full time, but I would prefer to keep him in the middle rotation... so maybe if Piaks goes, Willison to the edge and look to find more middles.

Yeah watching fights and fighters I have no knowledge of and no emotional investment is not for me though .
Too many events with up and comers with no profile . Boring !
 
Would definitely prefer Riki to be shipped around. Piakura was on 500-600 wasn’t he? Hopefully there’s somebody available that can do a job. 😬
 
I find it unusual that Piakura would want to leave or been asked to look elsewhere, considering he is contracted and on decent money, and has improved this year. And we don't have an abundance of 2nd rowers. Statistically, he is one of our better second rowers. So, it is weird we'd tell him that. If anything, we should choose not to resign JGos and JHunt, and go to market. Alternatively, not resigning JGos and releasing Piakura, and signing JHunt again would result in us have 500-600k to sign a better 2nd rower. But who is out there able to sign for 2026 and at that price? Perhaps shuffling to get Kleese Haas in? He can play 2nd row, and it would be a good incentive to keep Payne at the club, at least until both their contracts end.
 
I like piakura this year, he has made more effort and is certainly playing better than riki, and he has a lot of talent.... but he's just not footy smart. He would be great in a team where he doesn't have to think bcos the systems are so engrained and others can cover him eg storm. But even then I think Bellamy would get sick of the little errors.

I'd prefer riki to go though. Want staggs gone too. Their attitude is what gets me.

I might be in the minority here but I am actually excited for next year if there's a huge clean out. There is zero doubt in my mind maguire can coach, he just can't coach these idiots and pea hearts, and I am sick of looking for the coach to suit the players. Wtf successful club does that? None. The players suit the coach or **** off.
