I mentioned this in the pre-game but Maguire said Gibasaki is ALREADY top 30 and will be next year, so that confirms his status.
He might be thinking that Dev Deal is Top 30, because he had to sign one to be available for round 1.

Shiba confirmed he was development deal in his origin presser.

Good to hear it confirmed that he's got a Top 30 spot next year.

Our cap for next year is the tight one, but Reyno and Bhunt off contract after the end of next year and unlikely to extend can free some cash up

Gibasaki isn't the greatest in front of the camera let's be honest. Happily, Maguire was pretty clear in his presser, so I'm taking that as good enough to mean he is full squad. Maguire said he's full time, he's in the top 30, same as next year.

Negative.

I don't think it's the worst call by him, look I think he has exhausted league he just wasn't improving; it's been a fair time- three years since he finished school, and he could never close the gap of not playing league at high school. Hopefully that five years of Rugby at school helps him out.

He's just not an NRL top 30 player.
Bronx offered Israel another year of top 30 player for 2026 on his potential but he took up Rugby

Honestly glad to hear Leota’s going to union. I’d been hoping that he’d come good for us but from what I’ve seen the last 12+ months I couldn’t see us extending him. Exciting moments for sure, when the ball’s safely in his hands he looks great… just don’t get those often enough. Hope he crushes it in union, he’ll be a weapon in some code for sure.

Bronx offered Israel another Top 30 contract for 2026 due to his raw potential & before coming to Broncos only started playing league @16yo after 5 yrs playing AFL, Aust Youth Volleyball & GPS rugby. Good luck to him

Kobe Hetherington’s agent, Chris Haddad:

"I’ve been in talks with the Broncos and they have indicated we will have a formal offer by the end of this week. They have got Adam Reynolds’ retention out of the road, so we will move forward now with Kobe. I’ve asked them for a three-year deal ... we’ll see what happens. We’ve got no other interest at the moment, I haven’t been out looking at the market because Kobe’s been very settled with his football at the Broncos and that’s the priority at the moment.”
“Kobe was close to leaving last year. He had some interest from the Tigers and Dragons but we met with ‘Madge’ and he said just give me 12 months to work with Kobe and see how he goes. Kobe has been great the whole year and he was excellent off the bench for the Broncos last week, he made a really important run which lifted the whole team. The Broncos are very happy with his form, he’s got a very important role in their 17."
“I don’t think he’s had a bad game this year so his consistency has been very good. Kobe is a bloke who gives 100 per cent every week. He is someone who tackles all day, you have to have him in your side ... why wouldn’t the Broncos want to keep him?”
From the bench Hethero works and has looked so much better. If the price reflects it then I think we should keep him.

Allegedly on $400k, while $300k got us Jensen, Walters, Paix, Fletcher. Jensen looks the value of those four.

Even with inflation, I wouldn't be offering Kobe over $300k.
We need someone with genuine physical presence.
Piaks has a bit of that in him but we need a bit of that in the middle so happy to pass in Kobe if we can get that type of player.

Not really sure there is anything in this other than a journalist putting two and two together and as always coming up Broncos but if we could get him, it would be wonderful, could use him.
He was interacting with Patty and Walshy in some insta stories through out the week. Acting like they were besties. @Super Freak can u pls walk the dachshunds extra next week?

Let's get him to arrogant it up and join the dark side!

Wouldn't be surprised if we are enquiring with Josh Papali'i's management too.

Papa is looking to go to Super League next year if he plays on. He has stated categorically he will never play against the Raiders in the NRL.

He's seemingly changed his tune, and the last couple of days he hasn't ruled out staying in the NRL next year.

It'll come down to money, not 'playing against the Raiders'.

While Super League has been touted as the competition where he will finish his career, Papalii is yet to make a call on his next move.

“I’m still unsure,” he said.

“Holding the record for Canberra now and overtaking Jason Croker down there with the most games for Canberra Raiders is obviously very special, and that’s how I sort of want to keep it.

“But if the team that you’re playing for is not offering you another contract for the following year and you want to play on, you’ve obviously got to look elsewhere.

Depends on how much he costs. Potentially a good replacement for Baker If we could shift Madden that would help too.
I'd like to see us also go for some second row depth. Presuming we move on Hunt and Baker. I like Jamal Shibasaki and Mavrick Geyer as options.

Hetherington should not be signed on more money than Jensen. I think whatever Jensen is getting is about right for him.

We also need a backup fullback for Walsh. With Cobbo going we don't really have a backup option that is a NRL standard Fullback.
