I felt this way too and noticed early in the camp that Kerr was with our boys in lots of instagram. Enough to be noticeable at least. I wonder if Kerr's chats with @Super Freak when walking their dogs might change!?
Yeah noticed it through the week aswell.
He would have connections with Munster, Mann, Collins, Grant, Hammer through under 20's and club, but was seen a lot with the guys that he wasn't a fan of them and their attitudes.

Could be a nothing but also could be a something with the rumours that he's been linked to us.

It would be a good signing if it happens

Agree with everything you say, my concern was a little more role-based. Ezra's greatest strength is support play and showing up all over the field and chasing everything to be right place, right time and create opportunities out of nothing... That's also probably the defining hallmark of Dearden's game.

If Mam and Dearden partnered in the halves, and Dearden was playing hands-on first receiver and calling the shots, he'd probably need to be a little more passive with his game - he couldn't be chasing everything like a little bull terrier on 4th tackle if he knew he had to be in place for the 5th tackle kick, he can't be drifting all over the field if he needs to be lurking next to the ruck to setup 1-wide to run an attacking play on the next quick PTB.

Munster was the 6 last night but he's very experienced, took on a lot of the kicking and organisation and was the unquestioned senior, controlling half. With Mam and Dearden it would look a little different and they'd probably need to find some balance to complement each other in service of shaping, controlling and executing the gameplan. Not saying it couldn't work, I'm sure it could, but it would require some adjustment in my opinion.

There's probably arguments for pairing a running half like Dearden / Mam with a more traditional 7 (maybe Walker) to allow the 6 to be free to roam everywhere while the 7 plays conductor. Might overshadow like you say, but might actually free Dearden up to play to his strengths.

1. Walsh
6. Dearden
7. Walker
9. Grant (One day hopefully Mozer if all goes well)

14. Mam

Could be a NSW nightmare.

Definitely agree that at the end of the day, both Mam and Dearden started their first grade careers really exclusively as secondary halves who played as true 6's, but both are maturing and finding their feet as more controlling halves who could be the shot-calling first receiver, or the complementary running pivot.

Sexton and Dearden was close to the perfect schoolboy and Meninga halves combination. they would change roles and never got in each other's way.

Dearden always played a very 6 role, all his Cup games bar one was at 6 and 79/118 NRL games have been at 6.

But ,,,, was a pop gun kicker .
That`s why The Chad and now Clifford have been brought in to play right side and do the majority of the kicking .
Like I said he has obviously worked on distance and hang time on his kicks .
Even Alf was able to improve the distance of his kick . I wonder who coached Tommy with kicking ? Milf studied with the Lions back in the day .

Dearden is named at #7 and Clifford #6 for this weekend ....

He's got a massive conversion kick, took a penalty from halfway and got it against Tweed in only his second Cup game.

So players still OOC, who are you keeping, who are you flicking?
Baker
Gosiewski (rumoured to be in re-signing discussions)
Hetherington (rumoured to be either re-signed or just about there)
Hoeter
Junt
Jensen
Paix

Players of note still available (not obviously factoring in anyone else who may become available):
Papalii
Suluka-Fifita
KERR (heavily linked)
Bullemor (apparently still not official at Manly)
Vaega (still not official at Manly)
Afoa
TMM
Elliott
Duffy
JIBASAKI (linked, albeit not heavily)
Greig
Geyer
Piki
Tletcher
Havili
Sitchell

We still have 9 or 10 spots to fill for next season. Some of them will likely be filled by some of the kids, whoever they are in Black, Bryce, Inness, Verhoeven, Coates, Bukowski.

Could take or leave any of them.

Jensen, Goose and Hetherington are all pretty serviceable depth players if they’re happy on depth contracts

Anyone know of the young GC junior we have apparently just signed that CONEHEAD was whinging about on 360?

Kicking from a tee ?
He wasn`t kicking drop punts that far was he ? Until last night I have never seen him kick like he did . And I have watched him play for a few years .

I'm not sure what OOC means ... but:

Jensen would be my priority signing. You can't have superstars all through the pack or team, and Jensen is one of those moneyball type signings that won't cost you a fortune, but still does a good job for the team.

I'd keep Hethrington and Jetski at the right prices. I'd also keep Hoeter on minimum wage as a depth option.

From players outside the club that I would be targeting my preferences would be Kerr and Bullemor. I know that Jibasaki is fairly highly rated (at least around here), but i haven't seen enough of him play to know if he is a good option mor not

OOC - out of contract

Origin 3 review show tonight it was mentioned
I bet he just made it up, couldn't name the kid. He is a terrible ambassador, he always says "I haven't talked to anyone". He knows nothing and does nothing. I would just compare him to JYY as an ambassador who actively works in the community and knows about young players. Gordo is a bitter bloke, why isn't he out and about making sure the GC "keeps their own".

A lot of the kids that come through GC just seem to be going to Keebra Park or PBC... but are there any other major qld schools or do they all just head there because there's no other options?

I believe Marsden is another (CS9 went there), but it's around Logan so they'd probably claim that too.

CONEHEAD was claiming that Fifita is a GC junior... he's from Ipswich and travelled hours back and forth every day to attend Keebra Park.

Also claimed Payne as a GC junior... he's from Newcastle and plays for NSW... I think he went to Keebra Park when he was 16 or something and was then playing NRL for broncos by 18.

Can't recall if he mentioned Dearden, but he went to PBC and is from Mackay... so he's not really GC or even SEQ.

Ash Taylor was Toowoomba wasnt he??

GC definitely lose a lot of juniors, but just because Keebra Park and PBC seem to be the only legit league schools in qld doesn't mean that every player that attends those schools is automatically a GC junior.

I would look at Geyer. He has done a solid apprenticeship in NSW Cup in a Penrith system and is a solid defender. At 24 I think we can offer him more than just origin period and injury cover. Most likely a bench spot in our 17.

Maybe TMM as fullback halves backup if we move on Madden but I think we won't be able to afford that..

I am not a Kerr fan. 29 and never been more than fringe first grade. The comments about the ref show a lack of maturity regardless of the refereeing performance.

What about the time the Tigers poached a promising GC youth named Benji
