Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2026

I'm not on the PEDs thing for the record but you have raised an interesting discussion point nonetheless. Panthers who have improved after leaving / have not:

Staines - not improved, regressed, in ESL
Iongi - improved, fantastic young player
Crichton - already good, seems to have trended down though if anything
Burton - massively regressed
Geyer - not better, not worse
Capewell - already good, not improved or regressed
Kikau - not improved or regressed
Salmon - regressed
Koraisau - regressed
Fisher-Harris - no change
Egan - massively improved
May - in ESL, hard to know
May - regressed
Luai - regressed but wasn't good anyway
Naden - regressed
Leniu - massively regressed
Laurie - regressed
Moirovski - regressed
Hopgood - injured often, hard to know
O'Sullivan - regressed
Luke - hard to know
Turuva - regressed
Jenkins - massively regressed, returned and massively improved
Hosking - massively regressed
Cogger - massively regressed
How much football do you actually watch?

We have a gun prop/second rower coming through called Marley Igasan. I am pretty confident he will play NRL at the Broncos. Has a ton of mongrel and can play prop and edge. It wIll be good to get this kid training along side Mitch Barnett next year.
I've liked him in the middle but I wouldn't say anything crazy. Horrible discipline on the edge.

It's super smart from the Wahs to lock in all those young forwards long term. Somebody at the club saw where the game was going, and they are well stocked now through until new tv deal and new cap and have a stockpile of the perfect forwards for current day league.
Whats the rules with what you can pay the players outside of the 30 contracted players?

Has Hosking still been that good? Can't say ive watched too much Milk this season and thought they'd gone the way of a Hudson/Sisagi pairing.

Jury's out.

we've tried that before. Invest all your cap in your pack and you'll struggle.

I think their spine are playing out of their skins right now, and if it continues they'll all need big upgrades, but will they have the cap space for it with the pack they've locked up,

also, who knows what the rules will be next year and beyond. One of Vlandys favourite things is ****ing with the rules ... and the last time the comp was this bad (2021) they changed the rules the following year

Oh 100%. But for now at least, it seems to be working and theres been no hint that the game will be slowing down anytime soon

The thing is its not just their forward pack is it. They have a truck load of young backs about to come through too. I am not sure how they have been able to stack like this? Do they get NRL salary relief for developing their own pathways? How could you afford to pay all these young guns?

Some of the outside backs they have locked in include some genuine freaks - Joseph Ratcliffe, Haizyn Mellars, Brandon Norris, Harry Tauafiafi-Iutoi, Mark Sikuvea (Brian To'o clone), Jye Linnane, Jeremiah Lemana, Sio Kali, Caelys-Paul Putoko, Motu Pasikala, Nganatatafu Vake, Cassius Tia.

Youtube any of these guys and you could easily believe that is the next megastar of our game.

Remember they also signed Will Warbrick and Grant Anderson for next season joining .

Then in the halves they stole Harry Inch off New Zealand rugby/Crusaders who were spewing about it. They have Jett Cleary who already looks a lot like Nathan. And Jack Thompson who looks a future Superstar who walked away from Manly preferring to develop long term at the Warriors. They didn't even blink an eye at releasing Luke Metcalf and pocketing his salary cap. They havent even named Metcalf in reserves this week. Losing Tanah on the weekend had no effect on them with Te Marie Martin walking in.

It's unreal depth and i can't figure out how they can keep all this talent. They may be the new Roosters with massive Sombreros?

Maybe rugby union is just taking its natural path and even kiwis are starting to hate it.

Yes! Gifted us a home prelim by bombing an easy try and then going after Walshy's legs.

Seriously though - was going so well until he cooked his shoulder mid-late last year (for the second or third time) and has never been the same

I think his last couple years have been injury disrupted ... and then Sticky ****s around with his forward rotations.

Keeps buying forwards even though his pack is stacked, which means genuine first graders just don't get minutes.

- Horse was playing reserve grade a couple years back because he got on the wrong side of Sticky... now he's playing 80mins a game
- When they got Hosking they already had Young and Whitehead in front of him
- Raiders went out and found that Matty Nicholson who was killing it, but then got injured... I think he got injured again this year, but had dropped down the pecking order before the injury
- Noah Martin has been starting this year ahead of guys that were starting last year
- Smithies has been dropped back to the bench after starting pretty much all last year

Beyond the above they signed Harawira-Naera... who was a gun at the time and couldn't get a starting spot. The pommie front rower that was just coming off the bench playing bugger all minutes for his entire time in Canberra.

Even Owen Pattie who is a weapon and gun hooker coming through, has barely played a minute this year, because they went out and signed a broken down Jayden Brailey to play ahead of him.

I don't know how they keep signing guys to just to sit behind first graders.

True, I forgot about Martin as well who was a bolter and then just started the season.

Sisagi is incredible and they arent moving Hudson anytime, maybe just throw coin at Noah if he comes back and his ankles work again. He seemed pretty damn good from what I have seen.

These guys are always in the shop window though and eventually clubs will start knocking as these kids will only want to stay in those grades for so long.

But its also why I feel the Qld clubs actually need their own reserve grade teams in the QLD cup, I dont think having multiple feeder clubs works as well as a dedicated reserve side.
