I have no fear for Walshy. His daughter is everything to him, and if he's based over there, there is no chance that he gets his weekly visits. He's loaded as is, the extra money means shit all.

Nash Dawson will have brands emailing him daily. He'll earn enough.
 
I still don't think Haas leaves. Not saying he isn't 'driven' by the cash, and that he would/should use a $3M US offer from R360 to get more from the Broncos, but I just don't see him up and leaving his family in Brisbane. You can argue he can take them all with him on that money for sure, but I think he'll get us to as high a dollar contract as we can go and he'll sign. Hard to argue he wouldn't be worth it too.

Haas has plenty of time to go and secure a huge deal with R360. Being a foundational player comes with huge risks. There would be nothing stopping him playing a full NRL career and finishing his time as a player on big money in a different code.

If they are throwing that kind of cash at Haas, Donuts should be on the horn to V'landys demanding the ability for us to match some of the gap outside the cap.

NRL has done it before..... another couple of mil a year is not much to a club with our pockets to top up some of our best talent to prevent them from talking to R360.
 
Rugby would be better expanding the European Champions Cup to other domestic leagues across the world. including Super Rugby, Japan, USA, Argentina. This would be a better version of R360.

With the speculation of haas to 360 should we be touching base with tino for 2027 to swap in if he does go. Would be a nice replacement if he did go

As for Haas, his daughter is fast approaching school age and his two youngest brother are in school, still under his care, with their mum in prison here - if he leaves, he's going on his own and I just don't see it.... I could be wrong, but I think it would be highly unlikely if we take care of him. Payne is also the kind of bloke the club would keep around after his career. He is a ready made role model for young blokes coming through, particularly from troubled backgrounds and making something of yourself.

That and R360 could be here today, gone tomorrow. The whole concept is based on them being able to make bank off it, as Payne is under contract for their first season, if things go sideways, there may not be a second season anyway. The countries they are trying to market to are not even Rugby countries, it's very likely to be a gamble at best that he even gets what he's promised money wise. International Rugby is off the table at least for the Wallabies.

If he locks in at the Broncos, he'd be taken care of for the rest of his playing career and then some.

It's not Saudi backed either... well not yet anyway.

It's the ones that have the Pakistan version of big bash, and apparently theyre not always able to pay their players or something.

They have some other comps as well (a European NFL and some 6 a side indoor soccer), but no one's ever heard of those.

If Haas is actually entertaining the idea I feel like it would be 1 season to get the big cash injection over next October 2026... then if it fails back to NRL in 2027.

So he's not really playing outside of his NRL contract excluding the October/ November 1 cross over... and just signs a half year deal in 2027.

Sounds like he's trying to figure out what NRL's plan is for defectors before committing to even a meeting

If we lost the GF I would say he leaves, but I just don’t see it anymore. He’s got the young family and his 2 brothers.
I think he’ll re-sign for another few more years and then maybe after that he’ll possibly leave but I don’t see it happening anytime soon.
 
Going to be very interesting regarding Reynolds. One more year sounds great but does he even have it in him physically lol I felt like we did much better when he got off (sorry to say). Their plays flowed much more simpler. Would be good to start using the possible Reynolds’ replacement next year (whoever that may be) and trial it out before he’s gone so he can teach them his ways. We’ll see more during the trial matches next year on what the plan may be.

It's more a question, can he stay on the park for 20+ games next season? Over the last two years he's had major knee, calf and hamstring problems recurring throughout both seasons - if they aren't confident they can sort that out then it's time to go out a winner. No point taking up salary cap to sit in the coaches box all year - might as well simply get paid to be an assistant and not put yourself through the pain.

He also needs to consider having the ability to walk/move properly for the next 40+ years after retirement.

If he keeps doing hamstrings and calves, they will give up on him earlier than most, despite how much strength and conditioning they’ve had over the years

I think the Club are well and truly going to be considering this. If he's hell bent on going around again and this is his final year I wouldn't be surprised to see a few changes from the club -

- A co-captain (patty)
- Black starting to make the extended squad to travel with the playing group etc. (or even on the bench)
-Reece walsh doing all of the goal kicking
-Hunt, Mam, Walters all doing reps at halfback in the pre-season

Reyno has earnt the right to pick when he finishes his career. I can unequivocally say we don't win a premiership without him, despite his performance not being the best on GF day. Next year will be his transition to retirement year and its up to the club to start handing over his duties!
 
I think the club will definitely be managing Reynolds through the year.

I think our first choice spine (Ezra, Bhunt, Reyno, etc.) played like 5 games together all year, so there wasn't really any chance to rest Reyno... and even then some of the depth were also out injured Madden with his pec/bicep injury and Mozer with the shoulder.

Next year they will be looking at Duffy thinking he can play some games with his more than capable kicking game and significant qcup experience... Black will be right up there with his qcup games.

They might also want to get a look at Buk with Mozer.

The backend of the year showed we arent as reliant on Reynolds anymore, which is great, because it means if he gets a slight niggle then sit him for the week and give one of the young guys a go.

Doesn't mean we dont want to head into the finals with a fresh and managed Reynolds to guide the team around... OR one of the young guys jumps out of the ground and just takes the spot anyway

The injuries are one thing but I don’t know how a guy so famous for his kicking game launches one deep into the stands at least once a game.

He’s got a bad case of the Isaakos

He said he carried the calf complaint into the gf and I would say his elite kicking game is dependent on things like his balance for perfect execution. I think he kicked quite well apart from that one shank.

Must have had a tender calf for 2 years. He does it almost once a week for as long as I can remember
