He and his agent were in Dubai in December and no doubt met with the R360 gronks. They've of course told them to wait another year for the big pay day. I still reckon it has little to no chance of lift off.

1 year extension means he probably has a verbal agreement with Rugby for 2028
 
Don't ever see R360 happening, seems more inline with the next salary cap deal? In any case, he'll have been playing big minutes in the front row for a decade by then, so I don't mind short term deals.

That is pretty unfair, if he finishes in 2027, he has played for the club for 10 seasons. He stuck with the club through a wooden spoon and terrible and humiliating results, but then helped achieve its first premiership in 19 years.

At any point he could have easily left for a more successful club and more money, but stayed. Admittedly he is well paid, but he is the best prop in the game and one of the most consistent players in the league.

If he now decides to take up offers that the nrl clubs cant match, i cant blame him.

They’ve probably been talking for years. And every time a Coby Black or Jock Madden leaves, Payne’s manager will be on the blower to DD about how there’s more room in the cap so why not another $30-50k in 2027. Still not worried

He could have earned more money at North Queensland, but does he win them a premiership in 2005? He took less with the idea that the pay day would come in 2008. He earned it in 2008, he just had to go to Penrith to get it.

Parker would be the player to ask.

Like you wouldn't do the same. 1m taxed vs 3m untaxed... I love my job, but if a competitor overed me what worked out to be 3 to 5 times my wage to jump ship... I'm jumping ship in a heart beat.
 
Kind of hate this. Just means the r360 bullshit and media chat carries on for another year.

He better hope we win a premiership becuase if he doesnt this bs will be a major topic to blame if we dont and the feelings towards him will quickly change is think.
