Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2026

where’s all this Mariner to the wahs chat coming from? Surely if true every single media outlet would have blasted 100 articles on it by now.

I'm glad you brought up Piakura - he goes OK!

The way I look at it, you're lucky if you get one NRL backrower out of a birth-year, let alone two. In David Fifita, the Broncos arguably had the best player of his entire age group until the Titans came into the picture with a ridiculous offer.

Riki has proven himself as a professional and a club man. He's not a star but he works hard, makes his tackles and gets through 80 consistently.

He's here till the end of 2027. Not exactly in a rush to re-sign him but not in a rush to get rid of him either.

I'm more concerned about Te Kura and Bryce. Different position with Te Kura but he's the Broncos marquee forward coming through and he's struggling with consistensy. Then there's Bryce who was the Broncos best edge prospect and he's struggling to make his mark.

I'm not seeing a lot coming through either. Francis is a quality prospect but I see him as a middle. Horne is the pick of the bunch but I don't know if he has the speed required at NRL level. I see him more as a loose forward/interchange type of player if he makes it.

BTK and Arthars are the latest involved in the Barnett player swap. Not shocked on arthars, and not really a swap considering he is off contract.
BTK is interesting, seems the poor bloke can’t catch much of an injury break. Has potential but not sure he will evolve into what we all thought he could.

Move Staggs to an edge!

Got a bad feeling that it's Mariner

But, just tell them no. If he's getting a release because of a sick child, what kind of ****ed workplace would get in the way of that, Cameron George?
Trading Mariner would be silly, but if it is him I hope it's an immediate release. Barnett before his ACL injury was a top 5 prop and middles usually come back from ACLs stronger and quicker than outside back (see Tino last year for example)

Yeah but Tino is a 26 year old phenomenal athlete, he’s not a 31 year old white guy

Geez people certainly like to blow things out of proportion on here!

Our problem with the 2nd row is depth. The starting edges of Piaks and Riki comfortably sit middle of the pack.
They are better than 2rf pairings at:
Dragons
Storm
Titans
Souths
Tigers
Cowboys
Eels
Knights

With cap constraints it's got to give somewhere. I mean we did just win a comp with them.

Barnett strengthens injury cover given he is so multiple. Shrewd business if we can get it done

Yeah but Piakura is one head Knock away from his head exploding, so the paring is more jetski and riki, Jetski sucks and riki is average at best

I look forward to the balanced media reporting of the Barnett signing.

No doubt they will highlight the fact Barnett has taken a pay cut and came to brisbane to play under madge. Much like they did the fictional payne haas leaving because of his hard coaching (about the most renowned fitness focused player in the nrl) and that haas left specifically to be coached by bennett (he needed to be in sydney for family, just so happens bennett coaches in Sydney and he has been coached by him before so it fits).

They are literally shitter than all of those teams. Melbourne without Katoa, easily better.
Shit, I’d take the Newcastle duo of Lucas & McEwen. Who the **** are they?! Exactly. Better than all of the plodders we are feeding.
