Kev has a differing opinion then. Like some of us, he hates the mind numbing 4/5th tackle hit ups by the current lock and would like to see a change. Asiata will be a ball playing wizard there in comparison, get him on board - **** off Bird.

But if getting rid of Bird means we also have to chip in 400k and then pay Asiata 400k, we are effectively paying him 800k to play lock. He is a FAR inferior player to Bird (when he isn't injured).

I'd be keen to get Asiata as long as it's a straight swap for Joffa. He's certainly not worth more than that. I'd prefer to keep Lodge & Bird at this stage.

As others have mentioned, we need a different style of forward in the middle rotation - Lodge, Haas, Carrigan, Joffa, Flegler, Kennedy are all very similar styles of player, Asiata will offer some actual attacking threat in the middle of the field with his skill and ballplaying.

There is absolutely no takers for Roberts. Even the ESL are cold on him.
Souths also have to upgrade Latrell Mitchell which may well force a fullback out
Wonder if they would be prepared to let Allen go a year early

Asiata is nothing special but he makes the effort, he's got good skills with the ball which is something we could use, and quite frankly he's more reliable than TPJ.

If we can pick him up for cheap, happy to have him.

Angus chricton will likely be forced out of roosters
yeah that's a weird one aye... you'd think he leaves if he can't start and if he does tupouniua would look elsewhere too... both would be good pickups

The club has been paying this supposedly superior match winner 975k each year since 2018. Not once has he won a game for the club in his 17 appearances. Not the same player that he was at the Sharks, don't get the love-in when he has done nothing in this jersey (when fit). Been a dud buy, and a contributing factor to our limited cap mess.
How can they pay this guy almost a MIL just for doing rehab year in/out, and expect the actual match winners in Staggs and Fifita to stay loyal and get unders. Seriously messed up, don't you think?

Edit: Kev is Bronco to the core, paying a passenger overs will have undoubtedly make him want to sort out this situation asap. He can stay if he gets a 50% cut next year, so that Kev can get some needed signings with the left over 435k.

It’s called a contract. He’s signed and will be paid next season. We may as well use him when he’s healthy. I’m not sure it’s as simple as under paying him 50% of his contract..

Dragons wanted the broncos to pay 800k to get rid of Bird
Club shut them down and said we aren’t dealing with you now
Way to sour a professional relationship, holy shit what a joke!

I know it a bit random but, when was the last time we had a top tier halves combination besides the pan flash of Milford and Hunt ?

2008-2009 with Wallace (NSW Halfback) & Lockyer (QLD/AUS Five-Eighth)

2011 with Lockyer and Wallace. Could even argue that was their best year together with both players having strong years. In 2008, Lockyer had moments but struggled coming off the knee reconstruction. 2009 would give it a run for it's money but difficult to say for sure without digging through all the games.

we've still got 4 Norths, Logan, Ipswich and Wynum
Nope, Ipswich is now aligned with Newcastle, which is a travesty. You would think if Kev has a say he will want to change that when the opportunity comes up again

Wow that’s a long time without top of the line halves combination. I don’t think we will win a premiership until we get two of the best. It would mean stealing them off Sydney clubs at the moment and splashing a lot cash. I don’t know why we haven’t at least tried. I mean the tits can splash 1.2m for a back rower
