Broncos Vs. Roosters - Build Up Thread

I dont see the need to explain how i do know some of the Younger players but for the couple who seem to care.

Was introduced to Ben Hunt a few years back at a mates birthday pissup as he went to school with Hunt.

Hoffman is actually a friend of the familys, went all thru school with a few of my Cousins in Mackay.

Gillett/Yow yeh i started talking to due to comments on Hoffmans status. If the players didnt feel like chatting im sure they are all smart enough to know how to delete.

On topic Gillett has passed fitness.

Good to hear he will be playing.
Sucks that I took him out of my Dream Team and can't put him back in now though.

I wouldn't expect too much of him. He's a solid player who can do a job, but that's it.

Thats all we want from him. To score a try if it is there to score and to net let any tries in...

Yep, defence is more important than attack.

This is the way I see the game.

The Roosters pack is still learning. They have a shit load of inexperience, and talent wise, they don't have too much up front. I rate their back row as Myles is a quality player and Guirra and Aubusson are great hole running back rowers that can hurt you. But they lack some depth and not having Ryles won't help them. The Wrecking Ball and Paea are no nonsense forwards, they don't have much to their game but they do the job. But their bench is young and weak IMO, and as soon as the 20-30 minute passes, their depth suffers.

In the first few weeks their pack was pumped, excited and prepared - I just think they may struggle to get back onto that high they were on in the first 2 weeks, especially now after a loss.

In comparison to them, we have Anderson, Kenny, Thaiday who have all been in top form in the first 3 weeks, then you have some size with Setu and the return of Ashton Sims...our pack is pretty decent in comparison. Has way more experience, way more size and I see no reason why our pack can't outplay theirs.

Despite losing 2 of our best outside backs, we still have a quality backline IMO. Just shows our depth huh? Our wingers are quality - Beale is quick and can get over the line, so can Winterstien. As long as you have wingers that are no stranger to the try line, then you'll be fine. We have that.

In the centres we have Teo and Glenn - Not the most flashy centres but defensively they are pretty decent and that will be important in this game. They are more than capable of throwing the last pass to our wingers in a set movement, so I'm honestly not concerned at all with our backline.

However, as our main strike weapons are out, I'd like to see Wallace kicking to Winterstien's wing heaps more. Rarely seen it all season which is strange as Winterstien scored half of his tries last year from kicks. Up against Sam Perrett, I think he has his number.

I'll be tipping us this weekend, we have a great record at the SFS and the Roosters are now back to the drawing board (and so are we) so you might see them getting back to basics and I think you'll see us trying to get back to basics too, and that's a battle than can easily be won.

that try out wide wasnt wallaces miss, it was Rivett iirc. i thought it was wallace too, but pretty sure he had number 18 on his back.

that was just a horrible game by the broncos, and a poor game by the roosters. against a team like Melbourne or the Bulldogs, that wouldve been 60-70 nil.

Yeah Rivett was abit slow in defence the whole night. He tried however and did not give up. Hopefully with time he can learn to slide abit better.
