Broncos vs Titans Trial Score *spoilers*

Copley playing himself into the.first grade team?

Sounds like they did well, which is good to hear.

Anyone know why Gagai didn't play?

The NRMA Insurance Broncos have kicked off their 2011 campaign in style with a comprehensive 42-18 routing of the Gold Coast Titans.

At Wynnum’s Kougari Oval the Titans cored in the first two minutes but the Broncos slipped straight into top gear, posting five tries in a 15-minute barrage.

After the first-half tryfest, the game tightened up after the break, with the Broncos taking 15 minutes to post their next try.

It came through Alex Glenn when he ran a hard line against the grain to score near the posts.

Just a couple of minutes later Norths affiliate player Jack Reed latched onto a grubber to score his first try in Broncos colours, Ben Hunt converting to make it 36-14.

Titan lock Luke O’Dwyer scored with three minutes remaining to add some respectability to the score but Dale Copley scored on the bell to take the Broncos to 40.

The Broncos had started in the worst possible way, letting the kick-off go dead and handing possession straight to the Titans.

They took advantage, Esi Tonga scoring to make it 4-0 after just two minutes.

But the Broncos hit back with some trickery on the 10th minute, a clever Hunt banana kick finding Corey Norman inside and one-on-one for the putdown.

Norman missed a sitter and it was 4-all.

On the next set the Broncos worked a slick backline shot that allowed Jordan Kahu to give dale Copley uninterrupted passage to line for 8-4.

And they made it three in a row when the Titans let a spiralling bomb bounce and it fell for second rower Dunamis Lui.

Norman made it zero for three with the boot and it was 12-4.

Twenty minutes were yet to elapse when Josh McGuire went over untouched from a Kurt Baptiste bullet pass. Hunt finally knocked one over and it was 18-4.

Then a disastrous mix up at a Titans play the ball allowed Mitchell Frei to grab the loose pill and stroll 30 metres to dot down under the sticks. After 23 minutes the Broncos were up 24-4.

The Titans stopped the bleeding in the 32nd minute when Sam Tagatese crashed over, Joe Vickery converting to make it 24-10.

Tonga’s second try just before the break left it at 24-14.

BRISBANE BRONCOS 36 (D Copley 2, C Norman, D Lui, J McGuire, M Frei, A Glenn, J Reed tries; B Hunt 4 goals) defeated GOLD COAST TITANS 18 (E Tonga 2, S Tagatese, L O’Dwyer tries; J Vickery goal) at Kougari Oval, Wynnum.

The crowd's got the munchies now. Someone's smoking something at one of the houses next to Kougari lol. Such a formidable scent.

Gagai played at centre in the 20s. He's such a lethal runner but didn't get his hands on the ball enough, made two line breaks though which both lead to tries.

The main game wasn't that brilliant to be honest, sloppy and too many penalties - the refs are really stringent when it comes to playing the ball correctly and being behind the kicker for kickoffs and goal line drop outs.

It was sort of hard to get a read on individual players but Carlaw was dominated routinely. Copley, while he scored two tries, had two scored against him - I'm not sure he's ready for a full time gig in the NRL just yet. Baptiste at hooker probably impressed me the most, crisp passing and a nifty running game too.

Can't take much from a trial but still better to win than lose. Thanks for updates Kris.

How did Kahu, Hunt, Hala, Lui, Lingers and Frei go?

Hunt was awesome. New halfback.

Dodds was putting on some big hits.

Copleys defense was very suspect, while Beale looked ok with his tackling.

couldnt really see much from where i was lol.

Copley's defence looked terrible. Hopefully he won't get near the team for round 1!

Hunt's kicking game was awesome, definitely be keen to see him in the number 7 jersey.
