Broncos Coach Anthony Seibold will spend the next 14 days in COVID self-isolation after staying in Sydney last night for personal reasons.
Broncos CEO Paul White said:

“Anthony is dealing with a serious family matter and could not fly back to Brisbane with the team after the Rabbitohs game last night. He expects to be able to return to Brisbane within 48 hours but in line with COVID regulations he will need to self-isolate for 14 days once he is back in Queensland. Anthony will return to the Broncos after that. Assistant Coach Peter Gentle will coach the team in Anthony’s absence. We are working with Anthony to give him all the support he and his family need at this time, and we ask media to respect his privacy.”

Will be interesting to see how the team goes without him. Who is our assistant coach?
Never heard of him.

Peter Gentle. Coached in England a bit. I think he came over with Seibs from Souths. Could be wrong.

That's fucked. I feel for the poor bugger, if you've family issues it's hard at the best of times but covid has made it far, far worse. Chuck in the stress he'd be getting from work and it all adds up to not very fucken good at all.
Sadly, empathy is rare trait these days.

About a 1/10000 chance but it'd probably look bad for seibold if the Broncos won against Canberra...

Keep in mind Alf, and 2 other major contributors are already having to be isolated for breaking the bubble.
Yeah I can't see things getting better in the next 2 weeks. 4 of the coaching staff MIA.
Captain coach Alex Glenn meme is fast becoming reality.

I hadn't heard of Gentle until he was announced as one of Seibs' assistants. He gave an interview on the Broncos website where he broke down his history in Rugby League. He's a second generation player/coach who would even help his father out with stats and player analysis. After his playing days he went through the junior rep pathways as a coach and eventually broke through in the NRL with Cronulla in 2004-05 as an assistant. From there he was the assistant coach at the Wests Tigers (2006-2011), Parramatta Eels (2014-17) and South Sydney Rabbitohs (2018). He was also the head coach at Hull FC where he managed to get them into the second week of the finals in consecutive years.

Hopefully for Gentle and the Broncos, the result isn't as bad as his last start as a headcoach a 76-18 loss to Huddersfield in the Minor Semi Final.

Has Seibold been put on gardening leave?

In all seriousness, this is a personal matter and we should respect his privacy.

Do these 2 games feature in the 5 he has to win or are they getting prepared for yet another excuse?

Who’s taking over coaching duties? Alex glen or demas?
