I want to make particular note of how many times Roberts is involved in this compilation. Has to be at least a dozen times. I reckon he got a tough go of it during the season. The weight of expectation carried people away.

Re: Compilationof 2016 tries

Who needs repeat sets when Hunt is setting up tries left, right and centre at the start of the year. I think we can all recognize from this that our downfall occurred when injuries hit and Milford stopped showing up. This was great!

Re: Compilationof 2016 tries

I watched this the other day and at start all the tries were going to Corey Oates haha and then throughout it Milf and Oates were just getting tries.

Yeah I think we missed him in the final for his speed but not really in defence. I love him when we are coming out of a scrum and you have the likes of Milf and him to make something out of it and go the whole field or just make a line break.

I must say though Jimmy did get more tries and had a better season at the titans. IMO he only turned on in some games not all of them, but when he did turn it on he had good games.

Hopefully this rehab he is having in Thailand sorts his off field behaviour out and he can come back in 2017 and have a better season and not have to worry about all the shit he had to this year.

Thailand "re-hab" .....can be great for stress release.

So I've heard.

Roberts has been regarded in many sections of the media as one of the worst buys of the season because he didn't score a similar number of tries to what he scored for then Titans last year.

I don't think he was all that bad. you have to remember at the Titans in 2015, he was pretty much their only attacking weapon. However, for us this year, we had Oates, Milford, Kahu, Boyd, Hunt etc to share in the tries.

Roberts didn't go too bad in my opinion n watching that he put kahu over for a few it also shows y we can't move oats I think mead to qcup

Roberts got a bit of a bum rap, a lot of it not deserved. He had that shocker against Copley and everyone decided that it's been happening all year and Roberts was hopeless. In my opinion anyway, his defence was pretty solid. Better than I expected for someone so enigmatic, and a lot more consistent than his attack.

As for his attack, there would have been half a dozen tries scored just because of his presence there - the defence hanging off Boyd or Kahu and getting burnt. Roberts has to be well marked and any hesitation against him often spooks the rest of the defence. And geez, when he did get space, no one could touch him. If he can learn from Hodges, and pick his moments better in terms of running from dummy half, he'll be even more dangerous and be able to grab a game by the balls instead of waiting for the ball(s) to come to him.

Was he perfect? Of course not. He was down a few tries compared to his previous season at the Titans, but a fellow poster here correctly pointed out the difference was intercepts - he was often shooting out of the line for the Tits, and for every intercept he got he probably conceded a try or a line-break or two when he got it wrong and allowed an overlap. Bennett's stricter policy in defence might have cost us a bit in attack but more than made up for it in our relatively solid right-side defence. And all of this while struggling with personal problems. If he can come back with a clear head, he'll have a breakout year and potentially a NSW jersey.

I think that hip flexor injury Roberts picked up early in the season bothered him pretty much for the rest of the year.

The video highlighted just how much Oates missed Reed in the second half of the season. People bagged Reed but I think he will be hard to replace straight away.

That's what I have said before in threads but people say that Opacic ahs a better passing game but IMO Reed did and reed passed it more but I guess Opacic hasn't had much experience in first grade so it must be just ordinary for him to go himself sometimes without using his man beside him which sometimes leads to a missed try.

Good points. I mentioned it before, but Tom struggled big Time with his shoulder to the point where He shouldn't have been playing. He couldn't even lift his arm properly, and it effected his passing no doubt about it so we didn't really get to see what he could do with the ball more.

Reed pre his shoulder issues was a lot better player than he was given credit for.
