OFFICIAL Dane Gagai to finish career at the Broncos

“The experience he brings is valuable and we’ve got young players coming through like Niu and Coates who can learn from Dane.

**** me, this sentence just gave me severe ontological shock. Like I was that guy who dreamed his whole life while in a coma, and this sentence was the strange looking lamp that made me realise I was sleeping.

Coates and Niu??? What year is it

Kurt Capewell was before Ikin. He was announced exactly 1 week after Ikin arrived, so with the 10 day cooling off period means the deal was signed before he arrived.
Yeah there’s no way ikin had anything to do with that ….

I'm glad someone else said this, I had the exact same response. 😂

you can't really give him credit for Reece Walsh. It wouldn't have mattered who was in charge of recruitment ... he was always coming back to us when he got his release from the Warriors.

and if you give him credit for Hosking and Te Maire, then you also have to give him the blame for losing them since they left while he was head of football here

Ikin had plenty to do with Kurt. Ikin also cleaned house with Lodge and TPJ that were on ridiculous contracts- Getting rid of dead wood took up more time than anything else.

Smoothy and Jensen were Ikin's work too.

Also extended Hetherington, Carrigan, Mam, Willison, Mariner and Riki.

They've announced it:

I think it's a good move as a stopgap. Not costing us a bomb, gives us some depth and experience, probably happy to come full circle and finish his career here after the way he left. hopefully the young guys can learn a few things from him. don't think he's playing like absolute ass either, at least from what i've seen. hopefully he doesn't hit the wall before next year.

I have no issues with Gagai if its a 1 year deal for 250k. He's still a better player than Shiba, who turned down our 300k offer. This is a short term fix, allowing the young outside backs time to further develop. And if it turns out he played a year too long, he can be 18/19 on the bench as cover.

Yeah this. For me it was all dependent on the price and I'm comfortable with the reported figure.

I remember in 2012 Gagai signed a new deal then got sacked about six weeks later. In between that Yow Yeh did his leg and they still sacked him; that says how fed up with Gagai's lack of organisation.

He got dropped from the Broncos for missing training and then missed Redcliffe training too.

Now he's back to help younger players be professional. That's some circle of life right there.
