A video I made of Darius Boyd's 2016 season.

I experimented a bit with an overlay.. I'm not entirely happy with it.. But I couldn't be fucked going through looking for another so I stuck with it.

I would appreciate honest thoughts on it.

Yeah overlay is aids, just reduces the viewing quality. I'm a massive fan of just clean montages with no filtering or overlays, the game in it's natural form is attractive to me, and is comfortably the best way to watch montages.

Good stuff nonetheless, you've definitely got some great dedication.

Agree with this. Whilst I appreciate your editing etc, not worth your time I don't think. Doing it for some parts as something different is cool, but the whole video its a bit annoying. Boyd without doubt had his best attacking season in a long time this year, but I feel he would be up there with worst defensive fullbacks. He missed so many one on one tackles, more so than most other fullbacks. If he can improve that part of his game I will be very happy.

He's a big strong guy, and he shows that in attack with the ball, so I think the defense thing is just a poor technique thing. if you watch some of the attempts, it seems he gets into 'position' to tackle, too soon, and then any slight change of direction from the guy with the ball and boyd is done. He's big enough to just bear hug them and bring them down.

I wouldn't know where to start putting something like that together so can't come up with any negatives. Well done mate - shows how important he is to us in that package.

I'm amazed at your dedication, Freaky. Your videos keep getting better and better and at times I forgot I was watching a fan video, it felt like I was watching a package from Fox. The highlight for me were the transitions, it felt like I was watching something out of Watch Dogs and unlike other attempts I've seen, this felt seamless.

The only reason I had an issue with the filter is because you brought it to my attention. If you had have started with the filter you used, only to transition into a sharper image, it would have been dope.

Apart from that, I was only miffed because you didn't include my personal highlight. It's during the dying stages of the Dragons vs Broncos clash. Brisbane desperately need a win to resurrect their season and they hold a slender lead with the Dragons on attack. A kick goes into the in-goal and for all intents and purposes, they've earned themselves a repeat set...and Darius Boyd with all of his determination finds a way to get the ball back into the field of play.

I'd argue it was an inspirational play and it led to the Broncos going on their run of wins, but then Corey Oates lost the ball the next play...

Thankfully Tom Opacic was paying attention.

Extremely well presented.
Just shows the dedication from the great support our team has.
Bring on 2017.

The purpose of the overlay was to give it a digital look. If there is anyone here that watches NRL 360 and looks at the videos they put together, you would see what look I was going for. It's a very common overlay when going for that look.

However, the scanlines ended up being too thick. They were meant to be a lot thinner, so they were only just noticeable. They looked a lot thinner in the process of making it.

I would have fixed it, or just got rid of them, but that would have required rendering the video again (which took 2 hours) and I couldn't be bothered. I've spent the past week working on it, I just wanted it to be finished and uploaded.

Needless to say, I won't be using those again.

Not unless they are a lot thinner.

Thanks for the feedback both positive and negative. I'm glad people still enjoyed the video.

I wanted to include that.

But I thought if I include that one, I would have to include the others and I didn't have enough room so I left it out.

However, I'll be uploading an extended highlights video of Darius Boyd's 2016 season that will include more highlights such as that play.

Slick work as ever mate.

Really reinforces how good Boyd was this year. We are much richer for his presence at the back. Truly hope he is our next captain.

As others have said, the filter is a little distracting. That aside, editing, footage selection, audio and video splicing is top notch though. Easily on par with professional studio work, you really should be doing this for a living.
