Darius Boyd told he won’t play round one, Jack Bird cut loose in Broncos upheaval

What I don’t get is they are saying that glen has to take a pay cut to stay and now they are supposedly looking at Holmes.
Just looks wrong.

What's wrong with targeting Holmes? He was unbelievable before he left, like Turbo, Teddy, RTS tier. It solves one issue in our spine, get Foran/ Sezer on a Blake Green type stop gap deal with him and we're cooking with gas.

There's nothing to suggest Holmes does want to return to the NRL at this stage.

He may want to carry on learning and developing in the Jets practice squad with a chance to play NFL.

If Jack Bird is on $900k a season and he has been asked to leave, that money basically goes to Holmes.

I am also concerned they are struggling to pay Glenn. He is far higher priority signing than Corey Oates IMO and surely would be willing to accept a 2 year deal around $250k a season. He is a fan favourite and should be captain/co-captain for the next 2 years imo before giving to someone like Dearden/Fifita/Haas/Carrigan (depending who stands up etc.)

It's all about the balance of the squad. Glenn will sit on the bench and play 10-15 mins a game whereas Oates will play wing as long as he's fit. However, I'm not a fan of paying Oates big money.

NFL season is completely done and dusted at the start of feb. Play offs start in January. He is on their practice squad for this year, and surely by the end of this period he would know if he will be in their main squad the following year. If he isn't in the main squad, he wouldn't stay.

See, I don't think Oates has been deserving of his Wing spot this year. Not since about round 12. Oates turns 25 next month, sure he isn't old, but i'd say he has peaked / is getting worse. So yeah, Oates at $600k vs Glenn at $250k, i know who i'd rather.

Fully aware of the NFL season as an avid follower thanks mate.
I am referring to this season and following.

He still has the scars from the 2015 GF, should not have come off his wing.
I'd wish him all the best at the Titans or Cowboys.

Retain Glenn with the co-captaincy for the next 2 years.

I'm not sure I want either of them. Glenn, if he is re-signed on 200-250k to sit on the bench, would probably be preferable because it'd be better for our cap and he's a senior figure who isn't a laughing stock like Macca or Boyd.

Would anyone be keen for some kind of swap with the sharks of Bird for Josh Morris?

Serious question: Do we have a realistic way for Boyd to leave without impacting our Salary Cap other than another club taking him off our hands, which is obviously extremely unlikely.
I think we could send him over to Super League?
Although, I think we have a better chance of getting rid of Macca this way since he's not as cooked as Boyd. Still, Boyd could possibly go ok over there. If Kurt Gidley is still playing, there's no reason why Boyd can't have a chop.

What was oats on this year? Because if it was 500k and we resign him for anymore then 250 that person needs to be shot. Melbourne are reportedly trying to get rid of vinavalu because they are smart and realise you can’t have two expensive wingers, especially ones like oats who can’t catch, or read an attacking play. Let him go, that saves dollars right there

Letting Bird go would be a mistake because he's been great when on the field. He breaks alot of tackles and plays with energy. He's also good at getting us on the front foot with quick PTB's. Defense he seems ok but this can improve.

The only way we should get rid of Bird is if we use his money to buy a specialist #7 or #6 who's a game manager and has a very very good footy brain. That's it. We desperately need a halves player with vision, a good kicking game and understands tactics etc. That's priority. We need a leader.

All that is fine, but for $900k you probably can get far better value than that. In a position we actually need it especially.

If Melbourne want rid of vunivalu I'll happily take him.
