Call me a parrot all you like but we are lacking props. With Taylor going next year, and a Clinton likely to go, our defense needs to be built back up. Games aren't won through sometimes flashy wingers, not very often anyway.

I have never been a massive fan of Kemp and we are swamped with so many centres/wingers/fullbacks, that there isn't a real need for him. You talk about Hoffman being inconsistent, Kemp was hardly consistent himself. Constantly came in, crap under the high ball and the defense ran over him.

sometimes i loose my faith in humanity reading forums, but alas it is re-ignited. this is the most informed post ive seen in a while, cheers.

I'm a little confused at this wealth of backline talent we have. I'm constantly scratching my head who would play left or right centre once we move Glenn out of the back line and into the back row where he belongs.

By my calculations, we have in 2010:

Hoffman
Folau
Hodges
Michaels
Winterstein
Yow Yeh
Beale
Copley

Of those, only Michaels is really a left centre, though Izzy could be trained to fit there, as could Beale and Copley. Of those, only one is a genuine fullback - Hoffman. Copley and Beale can both play there.
Of those, only Hodges is a genuine right centre. Folau, Copley or Beale could play there I suppose.
Of those, only Yow Yeh and Folau are right wingers, Hoffman and Copley wouldn't be out of place there.
Of those, only Winterstein is a genuine left winger, Hoffman and Copley could play there I suppose.

Kemp is as at home at fullback as he is left wing.
And having been released late in the season would not be shopping for big money.

I can't see the harm in giving him a small contract for a year and see how he goes.

Also 'bs' who said clinton is going any where. Oh you heard it though the press, sorry my bad. And who are these backs we have every where that are 1 up to the task and 2 proven? You can never have enough of any position. And if kemp come back and at a good price why would we not take him back. Its either us the dogs or the dragons that will get him. And for the record. He was near tears when he was told to look else where because they could not afford to pay him what he was on because the money went to securing Izzy. He went to the warriors because it was the best offer and only after him and a few others where told to look else where.

I'd be concerned about his ability to read the play. Defending 2 in is very difficult and judging when to go in on the play or stay on your man is difficult to master. And with his size (small) he'd struggle against bigger centres.

He'd have to play wing or fullback IMO.

Hoffman on the other hand, while he would have the same learning curve to defend in the centres, is bigger physically and might handle it better.

Even Winterstein has played centres in his younger days.

Bring Kemp back ASA. He would be perfect fr the number 1 at the Broncos. Also he and Lockyer have a good combination and I could see alot of chip and chase plays involving Kemp.

Whatever the case is, lets establish a left centre then go from there. We all seem to agree this isn't going to be Michaels.

Decide on a left centre, decide on a FB.

Depending on these - I reckon Winterstein can use another season on the left wing for sure. If izzy goes left centre - Kemp/Yow Yeh will give us some depth then? (assuming Hoffman goes 1)

Kemp will be 1 if we sign him.. Yow Yeh deserves a wing spot next season as does Winterstien. I expect Folau to play left centre.
