Eli Katoa - Head Injury Discussion

and wtf was Hopoate going in that hard on Katoa during WARMUP? Do they have prior beef?

Is he a plant? Keeping a FAR better fullback out of the 1 and takes out their gun second rower.

RE warm up.
Cat 1.....thats like you're knocked out cold? The worst one? yeah......?

I note Wolf doesn't even mention the warm up incident in his interview. Tongans have to be in the shit one would think.
The warm up one definitely looked Cat 1... he wasn't star fishing, but he was motionless on the ground

Someone's head will roll for that. Disgraceful
Especially if it affects his playing career. Absolutely disgraceful. Whoever the doctors or trainers were that assessed each hit and continued to let him play should never work in that industry again. They were practically waiting for him to die to do something… he looked absolutely wrecked on that bench and complaining that he didn’t feel good. He’s extremely lucky that they were able to drain the fluid from his brain. It’s just absolutely shocking. If he can’t play again, there’s going to be a huge lawsuit incoming.

It’s really hard to see how it was anything but negligent. You’d have to even look into whether those doctors were actually qualified because those of us who aren’t doctors could see he was in trouble and they still sent him back out.

I think rules will be increased for headknocks outside of actual games.

One of the current rules is that 2x HIA's in a game is automatically ruled out... I didn't hear the commentators talk about him going for a second HIA when he first went off at 9 mins... but it was Vossy and he's off with the fairies half the time and seems to forget the rules nowadays, so there was no clarification on whether his first HIA would actually count as a second and rule him out based on him surely getting tested after the knock in warm ups.

And there was no real confirmation that he even had an HIA following the shot during the warm up.

I daresay they largely ignored the knock out in the warm up, because "we need to win the game!!", but it was a shocker. Video footage at training and during warm ups isn't the same as it is during a game, so it seems more like an honesty policy for concussions away from the game... I think they will increase the rules around that side of it.

I think the NFL require their training sessions to be recorded?? NRL might start trying to bring that in
