Could this be the end of his Bronco career?
BRISBANE centre Nick Emmett received a sobering reality check this week soon after learning a chronic foot injury would sideline him for the first half of the 2008 NRL season.
"It's more rest again another eight weeks out and then I have to get fit again and come back in reserves.
Emmett tested his foot in a trial game at the weekend but quit after 20 minutes when the pain got too much.
"I had to test it, you can't really go into an NRL game and try it out," he said.
Doctors have told him to expect six to nine months more of pain before the injury heals completely.
The good news is it's not career threatening.
"I don't have that luxury so I just have to get to the stage when I can push through the pain and play," he said.
"It's going to hurt all year."
Emmett was already recovering from two off-season ankle operations.
