Empty stands Humble Sydney

I suspect that the reason tickets sales would be down for Origin in Sydney is

There's talk on another forum that the top deck on the western side of ANZ will be closed for Origin 1 due to poor sales. Never heard of that happening before. Surely sales aren't going that bad?

I hope so Rocky.

There's still a week to go until kick-off and the teams have only just been named, so I was baffled at why there's talk of a large section of the stadium already being closed to the public (if indeed its true, I couldn't be bothered testing it). As you say Sydney's always been big on walk-ups for all games, which was shown to be the case last Friday. And you'd expect a large number of people buying at the game too when you've got 83,000 seats to fill.

I think there'll be 65,000 minimum roll up next week, and probably right on 65K for game 3 seeing as it'll be a dead rubber [icon_razz1

There will be over 70,000 there for sure. You guys should know this by now, NSW rugby league fans are the biggest walker-upperers in the country. We like to just rock up to the game and buy a ticket at the last minute rather than book tickets weeks in advance. This happens in other sports too like the AFL, Union, Soccer, Basketball etc. It's just how we do things so don't be so quick to judge.

We have interesting lives outside Rugby League too you know.

Agree completely. Last week's Centenary Test is proof of that. They should make 70,000 easilly. There is already some spice in the papers from Brett White (not really but the papers are saying it's spice) and they have a week to garner more interest. I think they're looking at 75,000+ and that would be a good result.

Gees are they doing the hard sell of tickets to SOO1 on The Footy Show tonight or what.

Pretty embarassing for mine and if it isn't sold out then Sydney should get a delayed telecast [icon_wink

Might be a fair statement but I can't ever remember a NSW Coach pleading to NSW fans on the Footy Show to come to the game. Surely an indication that sales are poor at the moment.

That was pretty embarrassing, and wreaks of desperation.

Seats are now selling on the aforementioned upper decks. Being the best part of a week out, that should pretty much see 70K+ come game time.
