England v Papua New Guinea *TV Spoilers*

PNG we're awesome, they probably would of won, and btw briareos, the stupid forward pass (the one that deprived them from 8 point lead) came from touch judge not hayne.

Either way, IMO they would of won if they got that try.

I think what happened tonight highlights the need for teams that are at PNG's level to be given more opportunities to play against the big boys - its the only way they'll continue forward meaningfully. Having Aus, NZ and Pomgolia constantly playing amongst themselves achieves nothing. If PNG could get a good string of matches against the big boys, that big 3 could quite easily turn into a big 4 in a shorter time frame than many would expect.

BUT, as always, club football will prove to be the major hurdle.

Brilliant match. Great to see the underdog stir things up from the first game. Hopefully it's a trend.

Awesome match. It was just a good old fun watch, some great tries, plenty of hits, great Rugby League. Agree that PNG etc need more oppertunity to play the likes of The Big Three, Im sure itd be a ratings winner too. Bring on the rest of the games!

Yeah, I saw that.

Farking fantastic. Hopefully a big slap in the face to critics of international league, but the small crowd size was unfortunate (and surprising).

If Townsville can only draw 10k for those two, I am not looking forward to seeing the crowd sizes for non-Australian games at Parra and Penrith!

Hopefully people will realise they could watching some great league games after last night's performance and trundle up to those.

Well the one at Penrith in particular! Tonga v Samoa! If they were playing that out at Toowoomba with ticket prices starting from $150 I reckon I'd still get out there for that.

I was actually pleasantly suprised 10K showed up, with all the negative press it was getting this week. Hopefully we get a couple of good games tonight, and you could see those figures drastically increasing by the time Tonga play Samoa.

Definitely a couple guys in that PNG team to watch for the future. No dobut a couple of them will get picked up by QCup, or even NRL teams!

Fitness was definitley telling in the end, even after teh first 20 I think PNG was playing on heart.

Aiton, Peters, Costigan and Gene went well. Number 17 and 8 also impressed me.

man may have only been 10k but it was an awesome game to be at, the crowd was loud and right into it. best feeling and you could feel the emotion of the crowd when png scored first try. Ive never felt so good at a game and i wanna see PNG more often.

That was brilliant. I loved it. Perfect start to the World Cup. Just a shame the referees decided at half time that PNG beating England would be bad. That forward pass ruling against PNG was a disgrace. 22-12 and suddenly it's a very different game!

Instead, it was 16-16 a couple of minutes later and England could do enough to escape.
