England vs New Zealand - Denver Test

Discussion in 'Rugby League Talk' started by Super Freak, Jun 11, 2018.

The England squad for the Denver Test and surprisingly it's a strong squad.

England squad: John Bateman, George Burgess, Sam Burgess, Thomas Burgess, Jake Connor, James Graham, Ryan Hall, Chris Hill, Jonny Lomax, Tommy Makinson, Jermaine McGillvary, Sean O’Loughlin, Mark Percival, Stefan Ratchford, James Roby, Luke Thompson, Gareth Widdop, George Williams, Elliott Whitehead

No word on the NZ squad yet.
  1. I have a bad feeling this game is going to get a crowd of about 11 people.

    I do hope I'm wrong.
  2. So does that mean we lose our coach for a game beyond the date line, for what is essentially a cripple fight in a country that doesn't care about league?

Very annoyed about this, its mean I can see Jermaine McGillvary. I just want him at the broncos soo much

He'll only really be gone for the weekend, and it's a bye week anyway.

Isn't he like 30 yo? What the hell use would he be at the Broncos?

He won't be much use but I like him. We shall get him and Shaun Lane
  7. To score tries.

I didn't know only young players can play.

  8. Shaun Johnson, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Tohu Harris and Gerard Beale have pulled out.

Johnson and Beale will pull out due to recently returning from injuries. And RTS and Harris have said they are putting club before country.

    George Burgess is also out.

Kind of turns this whole thing into a big joke when players pull out.

Wow. Players just keep on abandoning NZ.
  10. If I were the NZ coach, I would be telling Harris and RTS that they can forget playing in the next tournament.
  11. Good to see Kearney cares about the International game.

If you were NZ coach, you’d like to say that but you most certainly wouldn’t because you know your scores of actually decent players are dwindling fast and turning their back on you in droves.
  13. NZ have sufficient cover for RTS and Harris.

It's not like they are scraping the bottom of the barrel..
  14. If I was an NRL club, I'd be telling the NZRL that if they ever pull this sort of bullshit again, they will lose access to all employees currently in their NRL team during the season.

The fact this test exists at this time is just more proof that the people in charge of league have absolute rocks in their heads.
  15. Why?

The game is getting more known in America and more popular. Why not take games there and try to grow it? There is a market there.

I don't see the point of having it in the off-season when NFL season starts.
  16. Because the NRL is far more important than sending all these players across the dateline twice, and expecting them to come back and put in.

While we need to do something about the International game, and steps in the correct direction are being made, it shouldn't negatively affect the teams in the NRL. Also, they should have known players would pull out, and sending over two stripped down, half assed teams doesn't do anything to show off the true talent in the game.

NZ team has had so many pull outs - what is the point at this stage? Their team will be so weak.
  18. New Zealand Kiwis squad: Leeson Ah Mau, Nelson Asofa-Solomona, Herman Ese'ese, Raymond Faitala-Mariner, James Fisher-Harris, Slade Griffin, Peta Hiku, Jamayne Isaako, Jordan Kahu, Isaac Liu, Issac Luke, Te Maire Martin, Esan Marsters, Ken Maumalo, Kodi Nikorima, Joseph Tapine, Martin Taupau, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak

    Probably -

    1. Watene-Zelezniak
    2. Maumolo
    3. Hiku
    4. Marsters
    5. Isaako
    6. Martin
    7. Nikorima
    8. Waerea-Hargreaves
    9. Luke
    10. Taupau
    11. Tapine
    12. Fisher-Harris
    13. Liu

    14. Griffin
    15. Asofa-Solomona
    16. Ah Mau
    17. Ese'ese

    18. Kahu
    19. Faitala-Mariner
Personally I would put Isaako at fullback.

Based on the times I've seen him play there, he is a better fullback than DWZ.
