FOOTBALL English Premier League 23/24 Discussion

Just happy to be through tbh. It's the only thing keeping the season alive for United. Every team left will be better again, so still need to find something more.

The only teams Lyon have lost to in recent times are 1 and 2 in the league, PSG and Marseille, so they won't be an easy beat. We still should win, but it's absolutely not a given.

Very likely speaking too soon, but the past few games we've been a lot better. It looks like the players are starting to buy into Amorim's system and getting the hang of it.

We should have a couple of players back from injury with one of them being Mount.

If the players are finally starting to get the hang of Amorim's system and keep improving, anything's possible.

I agree, there's been some slight improvements in performance, but we still need to see goals from the forwards badly. Without them scoring, it's very easy to lose/draw games even if we play better.

Chelsea swoop in and snatch Quenda. He was one of United's top targets for summer.

I'm not unhappy about that. By all reports we were looking at 50 million for him and a young winger still developing is not what we need right now. That money for Quenda can go towards an experienced striker.

Wow. First time i sat down and watched this. I'm not even a fan of United and i actually found myself pretty angry at this idiots attitude.

The way he is justifying taking 40k from the old players and taking lunches from staff is just disgraceful. He isnt reading the room at all. Thinking the protests at the Arsenal game were about results shows how out of touch he is. He wont even acknowledge the Glazers financial mismanagement.

As a fan of football, i find it very unsavory the way he talks about the people at the club. They will all be there long after him and the Glazers have gone. I thought our owners were poor, but i'm so glad we dont have anyone like this bloke at our club.

The worst part of that whole interview, and the others he did, are how many fans and fan channels I've seen posting about how good it was, and how glad they were he did an interview to explain things.

Have 0 clue how they came to that conclusion after watching what I did.

Tbf to him, he's not hiding like most owners do, but he doesnt get whats wrong there. He's targeting the wrong people mostly in his cost cutting.

On another note, Quenda signing for Chelsea isnt boding well for Sancho apparently. While Chelsea have an obligation to buy him, Sancho hasnt agreed terms yet and the rumours are Chelsea will lowball him on his salary to get out of the deal.

I agree that he isn't hiding, but his understanding of why the protests happened, and assigning the blame of that to league position was bullshit.

His answer to questions about 40k from old players when Gary suggested current players could host a dinner and recoup that instantly, was alarming. "Nobody came to me with that idea Gary".

The only thing he said that I was like, yep glad it's finally being said was about us overpaying on players that aren't performing. Everything he said about wage bills meaning we are pretty close to where we should be because Shaw and Mount are injured, just absolutely moronic.

On Sancho/Quenda.

I think its a given we are going to have a Sancho (& Rashford) problem in the summer. Chelsea absolutely won't and don't appear to want him, so I think as you've said they'll low ball the shit out of him knowing he won't accept terms. He's done nothing, so finding a club to buy, not loan will be next to impossible.

Rashford has shown glimpses again, but the issue with him is wages and finding someone to pay 40m persay and then also his ridiculous wage. I don't think it's a given either/both are sold.

Quenda is a good get for Chelsea and as much as he was linked to us, I get why it's not happened. We were never paying 40 upfront for a player who can't even join until he is 18, which I think is 26/27 season. The 40m is needed now, badly.

They've randomly just shown SJR at the F1 in Melbourne with Mercedes, obviously since Ineos is a sponsor, and they just listed him as "businessman". 😂

Did some shit interviews and then jetted off to Australia to watch F1.
