FOOTBALL English Premier League 25/26 Discussion

Whoever told him this looked good, they were most definitely trolling him and he didn't realize.

What in the actual ****?

Looks like the Martinez deal is advancing.

Villa want a deal done before June 30 and it sounds like United will sign him regardless of Onana still being at the club. It seems like they're going to sign Martinez to send Onana the message that he's no longer wanted and force a move.

If it all does go ahead, hopefully United use Villa wanting a quick sale to bring the price down because 40 is too much.

I think Martinez is an upgrade on that clown Onana, but i always look at how the fans at their current clubs feel about losing players and the villa fans seem a bit meh about Emi leaving. He's been good for them but the general consensus from Villa fans i know and also reading online seems to be he had his worst season in a Villa shirt last year and he was starting to become a bit of a liability. Most of them are over the moon if they can get 40 million though regardless.

I personally didnt see a great drop off from him last season, but i dont watch villa every week

Going to be super interesting to see how he goes. Clearly a star, but being the British transfer record, will absolutely come with some added pressure. Will be interesting to see what sort of media scrutiny he will cop.

He's got the luxury of coming into a side where he doesn't need to start every week. It might take half a season to get him going but we've got other options that can take that pressure off him while he settles.

Being German you can bet the UK press will be out to get him.. but I'm quietly confident the guy is ice cold and won't be bothered by it.

Slot, Virgil, Salah and co will protect him until he's ready.

This whole Isak circus is a massive distraction from whatever we're planning to do at striker. Think Guehi is next in then our focus will shift up top. Something big is in the pipeline.

Striker talk aside, i wouldnt mind us having a look at omari hutchinson if we end up losing diaz. This is assuming the rumours about chiesa and nunez leaving come to fruition.

To the media hes going to have to cure cancer to live upto the fee.

@The True King has it right in that he has time to settle as hes not replacing anyone per se. But yes it would be disappointing if it took a full season for him to come to grips.

I think having a season to settle as far as the media is concerned wont even be an option. I doubt the fans will accept it either just because when you sign a player for such a huge fee you arent signing a project player. They will tolerate a settling in period, but not a long one. Its not how English football fans work for right or wrong. You sign for a big fee, the expectation is you perform.

I really rate him though personally, i think he is a fantastic footballer, but i heard a German football expert saying he looks no better than Sancho did at Dortmund and he hasnt adapted to the premier league at all and that does happen sometimes. Look at Veron at United. Terrific footballer, but he just didnt excel in England.

I just cant see him not being a success though. Bags of ability and a good attitude and work ethic. I think the only thing that will stop him is if he cant handle the pressure.

Diaz is going nowhere. Barca have moved to Nico on and the player is happy to stay.

Good chance we go into this season with Diaz, Jota and Danns up front. I can actually see us buying Gordon and reinforcing the left

Expected to be announced this week that EPL is moving from Optus in Aus to Stan Sport 🤮

Will be interesting to see how this plays out - EPL and CL back on the same service (not that you lads need to worry about that second one 😉).

Wonder if they'll crack down on people sharing accounts, or if there'll be a price hike.

The worst part is you can't get stan sport without stan itself. It adds up real quick unfortunately.

Also means more Bosnich probably and that's not good for anyone who has ears

meh I don't really mind, i'll sign up for Stan. Was just piggybacking off a mates optus account.
