FOOTBALL English Premier League 25/26 Discussion

I don't think one goal is going to be enough here.

We need another.

Can our players stop getting ****ing caught offside? Two goals denied because of offside. ****s sake.

Spurs are going for it.

We should have finished this game off a long time ago. Get the feeling we're going to blow this. We are far too relaxed.

And it's all over.

4 straight wins. Win against West Ham away and United Strand can finally get that haircut.

If Liverpool and Chelsea can lose this weekend, that would be even better. Chelsea are playing Wolves so no chance of that but Liverpool have a tough game against City.

Sesko man 😔

That right there is why he still isn't starting. He simply cannot be missing that so badly. I don't care the game was done, he is wide open with time on the penalty spot.

Still a huge work in progress.

Anyways, another +3 is nice. Just would have liked more goals that probably were there for the taking.

That bloke will be praying for a loss or draw. His whole livelihood and relevancy disappears if we actually win 5 in a row.

Palmer on for a hat trick of pens at this rate. 2 already

You would think a player that costs £116 million would have more goals and assists in the PL than Dorgu....

If he were a United player, he would be a total flop.

Good against the shit teams. Underwhelming against opposition that's physical. He could probably live up to his price tag, but as it stands he's been a waste given the amount spent.
Who are you talking about?

If it's Wirtz then all I am taking from your post is you don't watch Liverpool games.

Liverpool have spent that big sum in one window after a title win and have gone backwards in performances and league position. Realistically unless any of the new signings are putting out other wordly performances and stats, how can they possibly avoid these sort of criticisms?

There has been plenty of criticism.. but do you just expect people to sit there silently and give them no credit when they actually play well?

I think its about balance - call out both the good and bad performances. For the last 6-8 weeks Wirtz has been one of the best players in the prem, he's had at least 5 MOTM performances since the start of December.

You can argue he hasn't justified the money and that's totally fine I'd accept that. He has another 4 years to do so. The reason people aren't calling him a flop as loudly as they were earlier in the season is because you only have to watch our games now to see his influence and talent. As I said in my post the other day, he is carrying this attack with his mate Ekitike.

Generally speaking I think people are also less reactive now with brandishing the "flop" tag than they were a few seasons ago. Just remember how poor Caicedo and Rodri were in their first seasons at Chelsea and City respectively, everyone was on to them. Those critics were made to look stupid when they settled in to the squad and adjusted to the coaches' tactics. One is the best DM in world football and the other has a Balon D'or and treble- the lesson here is don't be reactive. It has little to do with Man United either, no one was saying a word about Cunha earlier this season when he was trash, or even Sesko when he was sitting on the bench doing nothing.

Mark my words, Wirtz will be one of the top 3 players in this league this time next season. If you want to call a player with that level of potential and ability a flop then go for it, but you will just look stupid in the long term.

That Szobo FK was absolutely mental.

First game against a proper low block since Carrick took charge and its been grim.

Too slow, too sideways, too safe and getting nothing from the fullbacks.

Shaw makes an error and we concede. This is such a common theme in these games for this team.

It was just a matter of time until the new manager bounce was over.

Carrick did well but the glaring issues in this team are still there and the good times weren't going to last.

Ignoring the January window is going to cost us a CL spot.

At least the United Strand guy will stay relevant now.

Happy for Sesko, great finish and we nab a point. Disappointing performance, but you take a point in those circumstances. Fair play to West Ham, defended well and dealt with everything United had with ease really.

That game right there is the issue with this group of players though. This is now the 3rd manager who has had good games playing on the counter, but it goes to shit against a low block. Ole, Ten Hag and now Carrick have shown glimpses of good football when the team can quickly counter, we saw nothing today. Aimless crosses, fullbacks going forward and giving it away, sideways sideways sideways, so slow.

Have said it all along, you can't only rely on being able to play on quick counters. It ended up getting Ole sacked as we lost and drew so many games like today.

Anyways, we stay top 4, Sesko got a really important goal and we didn't lose.. Maguire injury is a concern; he has been solid for us lately.

Thomas Frank sacked by Spurs. Do us a favour and sign Gareth.. Unless they go for someone like De Zerbi?
