Farah vs Smith (AKA spwn vs everyone else)

Broncos Player Movements and Rumours 2013

Gross. He needs to stay as far away as possible from the broncos

So you are desperate to sign Dugan but wouldn't want Farah??? Gee up

How is there any correlation?!? I want dugan at the broncos cos he is a fullback and we need a fullback. Farah is old and would be terrible value for money for what he would bring to the club. I also think he is gutless and a whinging little brat.

So if Farah wants to become a fullback, loss about 8 years, change hes whinging attitude and play for probably half of what the tigers are paying him, then yeah welcome to the broncos

Re: Broncos Player Movements and Rumours 2013

Old? He's 29, the same age as Smith, Cronk, Slater. He has at least 3-4 very good years in him, hookers can play till a longer age than most positions. How would he be terrible value for money? He's a far better player than Dugan both on and off the field and he's only just behind Smith as the second rake in the game, he also plays as a second halfback, almost always leading in try assists. His kicking game close to the line is second to none. If anything Farah is exactly the type of player we need, Macca is hopeless compared to him but Farah was neave leaving the Tigers anyway and it's best he stayed a 1 club player.

Re: Broncos Player Movements and Rumours 2013

I disagree that Farah is second just behind Smith. He's at least 4th, with daylight 2nd and 3rd.

Re: Broncos Player Movements and Rumours 2013

And you're entitled to that opinion, I personally don't think there's much between them. Farah has a better short kicking game, can put on a try better than Smith and is defence is only just behind. Smith is better overall but I don't think there's much in it, Farah really improved last year and he's been once again great this year.

Come on mate, now you're just being silly!

Unless you're just trying to entice him to the Broncos by blowing smoke up his arse! :shady:

Re: Broncos Player Movements and Rumours 2013

He's signed, he'll be a Tiger for life which is good for the game, it would have been wrong for Farah to play for us because Farah is Tigers like Lockyer was Bronco and Thurston is Cowboys, those sort of players should stay at their clubs to finish out their careers.

But yes I'm 100% serious, Farah is an extremely good player, I rate him right up there as one of the best in the game, as a hooker he's the complete package. You can argue origin but Farah was close to MOTM in every game last year and the only reason he hasn't played more origin is because Ennis "menace" reputation conned stupid NSW selectors into choosing him over Farah.

Re: Broncos Player Movements and Rumours 2013

Don't get me wrong, as I also think he's a good player, but no... he's not in the same post code as Cam Smith, because that's a whole new level.
Farah is talented, has plenty of individual quality, but he can't take a team to the heights that Smith can, and that is what makes him by far the best!

Re: Broncos Player Movements and Rumours 2013

Smith has Cronk and Slater to play alongside, arguably the best fullback of the last 10 years and top 2 halfback of the last 10 years, and not to mention a highly over the cap team for 5 of his prime career years.
Farah plays next to an inconsistent Marshall, consistently average fullbacks, Tim Sheens as coach and a so-so team, oh and he plays for NSW not QLD.

I'm not arguing that Farah is better because I think Smith is definitely no.1 and has been for at least the last 7 or so years but I don't think Farah is far behind. I certainly don't believe he's "daylight" ahead of Farah. In fact I don't think there's any position in the game where one player is "daylight" ahead of everyone else.

I agree that this is the case for most positions...just not hooker. Smith is probably the greatest of all time, while Farah isn't even better than Buderus or something in his prime.

Baahahaha. Farah and Smith in the same sentence. Farah isn't fit to be the skids on Smith's undies.

First off, I don't want Farah at the club.

How much would it cost to bring him up here and away from his family, friends and relatives? It'd be JT esque money and the guy isn't on that level.

You know who is? Cam Smith.

In fact, Smith is better and has been the best player in the world since 2006.

Farah at one point couldn't even put together a good case to be selected ahead of Ennis. Heck, last year there were discussions of NSW going back to Buderus or even Hinchcliffe.

Of course, Farah did get selected and credit to him, he was one of the best players on the field. But even at his best, he has too many coach killing mistakes in him.

He's a flashy player but I believe his hooker play at times leaves a bit to be desired. He ball-hogs a lot and as a result can come up with poor options. At one stage, from around 08-12 (pre-Origin) I would have had Ballin ahead of him.

Farah vs Smith is like Elias vs Steve Walters.

The Qlders are a class above.

I'm not arguing that anyones better though, just there isn't a massive gap. Smith has a combination that's been going for like 7 years now at club, QLD and AU level, when Farah plays origin or Australia he's playing with guys he plays with, what once a year? IIRC he's basically the only Tiger who makes it at rep level which says a lot about the team he plays in.

BP - When I'm speaking Smith V Farah, I'm very much speaking 2012 till current, before then there probably was daylight between them, Farah has improved his game a lot since then, he's cut out a lot of the killer mistakes he used to make, been an excellent player for NSW and is consistently the best player for the Tigers.

It's also easier for Farah to make pressure cooking mistakes because well, Smith is always playing in winning teams. Storm, QLD, AU, have any of those teams not been the benchmark basically since 2006? Not only the benchmark, but generally WAY above the oppositions level. Farah plays in an average Tigers team behind a usually pretty poor forward pack and a lot of the time he's forced to overplay his hand because well, it's been basically him and Marshall who are always put into must win situations thanks to the teams poor seasons performance. When you're always winning it's a lot easier to not over play your hand and when you're passing the ball to guys like Lockyer, Thurston, Cronk, Slater, well you don't need to do it all.
