FOOTBALL FIFA World Cup 2026

Argentina put on a clinic when they pressed the go button. That was exquisite.

Spain v Argentina - should be a great final.

Surely that's curtains for kane as well. Total non entity in any of the big games. Just doesnt have the mobility.

The opposition equalizes, you think that's the time to bring on attackers right?

Touchel: Nah, let's wait to see if they score again, and then I'll bring on Toney and Rashford.

Mind-boggling.

“The boys are always ready for any moment in the game. When we went ahead, the messaging was to go again and get another goal,” Kane said.

I hope they sack him and pay Pep what he wants to take over. So sick of these negative managers.

Another Fifa conspiracy. Where will it end?

When you see Zwane receive a red card for a slap on the face making contact with the eye, and then you see Fernandez forcefully strike Anderson in the back of the head with his palm and not even get a card, that on top of the other very favourable calls Argentina have got, don't really blame fans for thinking there is a favouritism towards Argentina.

Fernandez shouldn't have even been on the field.

Apart from that incident that VAR should have looked at, i dont think the ref made any decisions that cost us the game really. I was a bit surprised early on Argentina were committing foul after foul but the first half dodgy challenge by an England player in Anderson and he got carded. We only have ourselves to blame for losing, we took our foot off the gas and tried to sit back and defend a lead against a team with one of the best creative players of all time in their ranks.

Its hard not to think Argentina have led a charmed life this tournament though when you look at some of the decisions they have had in their favour, especially with the Infantino links that have been going on for years. Look at that Messi tackle in the first game. He should have been sent off and wasnt.

At the end of the day England stopped playing after they scored. Certainly not saying the refs are perfect and got everything correct (do they ever?) but I think its just low hanging fruit to blame the refs or infer some sort of conspiracy. Its certainly a lot less spicy to look at what's in front of you and see a team that got scared and went away from what put them in front in the first place.

My theory is teams expend so much energy concentrating on Messi that they just run out of gas towards the back end and seeing as he walks around most of the match, always has something left in the tank. The quotes from the English players themselves basically align with them just stopping trying to win and sitting back and not knowing what to do. I guess that's one of the benefits of being the reigning champions - they know how to win whereas England were hoping to.

It will be a good match up against Spain who also know how to win with their latest euros.
