Pretty embarrassing so far for NRL. Cheap tickets, Sydney glamour teams playing.

Broncs get over 40000 from a crap season with few star players, last night couldn’t give away 20000 tickets.

New stadiums will help a bit but doubt will make much difference. Remember Broncs we’re routinely getting 30000+ at horrible QE2 when the city was much less populated.

I appreciate TV is king but imagine every game getting minimum of 25000 average. NRL should be making an extra 50+ million a year. Then crowds help sell tv, merchandise, food and so forth so that is pretty conservative.

If only there sports mad places in this country we could move some NRL teams to....

I prefer watching RL on TV these days except for every now and then. Rugby League is definitely a TV sport, except when you watch it on the TV you don't have people trying to squeeze in front of you every couple of minutes to get a shitty beer.

I prefer to be at the game.

The atmosphere at a game is much better. You get more pumped and a win feels better when you've been there to witness it live. Such as the Round 6 2015 win against the Roosters, Round 4 2016 win vs Cowboys, Round 11 2018 win vs Roosters. It's just a lot better to be at the game.

The NRL need to start focusing more on crowds. Watching games being played in empty stadiums is not a good look, and it's not going to help to attract more people to the game.

I prefer watching the game live, but getting to and from the game is a bitch.

90000 at the G last night. Put a stadium In The middle of the cbd with multiple transport options and you will pack the joint out. Brisbane know this, melbourne know this....Sydney?

The G isn’t in the Centre, you have to go to Richmond. Mind you, it has a lot of transport options as you say, all of which are quite a walk though. Plus Melbourne does not have free transport to and from games.

Sydney is just Sydney and the NRL are too scared to cull anyone.

The G is closer to the city than Lang park is. It’s walking distance from central station, along the Yarra. The point is that you aren’t catching 6 trains and a bus to get there like you are in Sydney.

Last night was pretty good crowd. Can’t believe it was really 48 thousand people there based on number of empty seats but easily 40. Mind u that needs to be what they are doing week in and out in the regular season let alone finals. Need to make the tough call now and move or cut at least 2 Sydney teams by issuing requirements like crowds, money and so forth might hurt next 10 years a bit but need to think about next 20 years. If kids aren’t getting to the games and playing the game can see it slowly dying out. Ideally make lots of free juniors tickets with big family bays with limited service of weak alcohol and have seperate entry with full strength.

Agree with statement so easy to get to the G compared to Lang Park. Really need a train at the front door for both but isn’t a long walk although doesn’t seem great for people with mobility issues.
