Fittler gone, Brian Smith In

wow. Seems all but a formality now. It must have been hard to tell the players. (From Brian's point of view)

That is certainly big news - everything I had heard was that the Chooks were going to make a big play for Steven Kearney who I think is going to be a very good coach. I am not totally against Ivan but I like the look of Kearney in a Broncos shirt!

Wow, BAD news for the knights. No doubt that I'll hear more about it tomorrow.

I'm not really surprised re Smith leaving the Knights and I don't think it's a bad thing for them. As others have said, Smith's real coaching strength lies in coming to a club in crisis or turmoil, cleaning it out and getting it back on track. Premiership success is not his forte. He has done his thing at Newcastle and put them in a good position going forward - they just need to make sure they get the right coach to capitalise on what Smith has set up.

I don't know about premiership success thing with Smith, I think he is a pretty cluey coach. He has got teams into what 5 grand finals. You don't do that unless you are a topline coach. He has just been unlucky that the teams his team has played against in the finals have been red hot.
