So another club is looking for a coach. I heard this a few days ago along with Henry heading home.

Excuse my ignorance but where is home for Henry?

The Canberra Rabble are imploding ........

As long as they release Milford, I don't really care even if they completely fall apart.

As I stated in the Milford thread the Raiders are like a water tap one year their hot and the next year their cold. Never really rated Furner's coaching that highly as the highest he ever got them on the table was 6th and didn't really change their culture or anything although he did bring some bright young talent to the capital.

As long as this doesn't damage our chances of scoring Milford. Though the kid will look like a bit of a dick if he stays now that the coach is gone, suddenly not making an issue of his dad's situation.

I also hope Furgo uses his no-Furner clause to head to the Bronco's! (if he's cleared of the naughty touching, of course).

I think getting rid of Furner is a step in the right direction, I never liked him much as a coach and I think he always got an easy ride because of his borhter's position.

Canberra have a really good, young squad but they've been so inconsistent for a while and I think a new coach could be a breath of fresh air for them.

i just hope they don't do the regular "new coach, play better" routine. We need them to lose every game.

The timing of this is truly bizarre. I don't understand why the Raiders would want to sack their head coach right as their season hangs in the balance. Surely, that's curtains for their season and will only create tension with sponsors and supporters.

In saying, Furner's time was definitely drawing to a close. His biggest failing was his inability to take his young crop of stars to the next level. It just seemed like he was running a daycare out there most of the time and unfortunately for him his most talented players were troublemakers. Dugan & Ferguson are world class players and we've seen plenty of examples of that this year but they just didn't seem to take their careers as seriously as they should have, especially Blake who really lacked concentration and was always good for massive brain fades.

It will be interesting to hear who's appointed the next full-time coach and what effect it has on the club. Despite the club being in disarray with the very real possibility of Fergo & Milford leaving, they still have plenty of talent left over and may even perform better without the Ferguson distraction.

Let's just imagine a worst case scenario here...I reckon the Raiders would line up like...

1. Jack Ahearn
2. Reece Robinson
3. Jarrod Croker
4. Jack Wighton
5. Edrick Lee
6. Terry Campese
7. Mitchell Cornish
8. Dave Shillington
9. Glenn Buttriss
10. Dane Tilse
11. Joel Edwards
12. Josh Papalii
13. Shaun Fensom

14. Josh McCrone
15. Lagi Setu
16. Brett White
17. Tom Learoyd-Lahrs

Jag a few last minute off-season signings, develop an effective gameplan that compliments players like Papalii & their backs, brother you've got a team.

Transforming it into a premiership team is another story - Raiders are going to have to make some big calls there. Cut Campo, some members of their forward pack and make some big plays in the active market.

The environment at the Raiders is toxic and has been for most of the this year, a lot of stuff will come out now so I guess it doesn't matter.

They've had players going to management demanding hair dressers and make up at games for partners and management gave it to them instead of telling them to concentrate on football.

On Sunday it reached a terrible low, players were talking over Furner pre-game and he was ignored at half-time.

Ego is out of control in Canberra and a lot of players think they're bigger than they're. Big job to get them back under control.

The worrying thing about the timing of this is the Milford situation IMO. They're trying to retain him, Furner has been a bit of a dick in the media about it all, suddenly they fire Furner? Smells fishy to me.....or perhaps they think that the playing group will spark and they might jag a finals spot. Beats me

Very good post but why would you cut Campese he is a great player and the Raiders rise in fortunes this year coincided with his return. To bad he is so injury-prone if he stayed on the field for a whole season the Raiders would be a difficult team to beat.

It's don furner that has been the dick in the media about it not Dave furner

That is quite an impressive team for a worst case scenario. Makes me wonder even more why they let Williams walk though. Sure, he played poorly this year but he lit it up at the end of last season and he has a tonne of talent. I mean, by letting Williams go they were basically betting on Campese, McCrone and Cornish, which seems silly because Campese is always injured and getting old, McCrone is good but Williams definitely had more potential and Cornish is basically the same as Williams but a lot further behind in his development.

Having Wighton and Lee in the centres is going to be incredible though. I bet Furner is fuming that some other coach will get to walk into his job and have the luxury of having those players 2 years from now.

That backline doesn't look quite as good without Milford and Ferguson, but it's still good. It feels like they really missed their chance this year though.
