Why do you think ahead will get the gig though? He hasn’t set the world on fire despite his century and given a weak looking Pakistan is here, now would seem the perfect time to blood a young un in Pucovski. That said, I do realise Head is still pretty young himself BUT he is also another lefty in a middle order exposed badly in England.

That’s why I wouldn’t be surprised to see:

I don't understand why you'd drop Head but still have Wade in the middle order, you said it yourself, we're against Pakistan, we may as well go with the younger guys in Head & Pucovski.

Because Wade is coming off two hundreds in the Ashes and literally just won a game for Tassie off his own bat. Plus he actually looks competent.

Don't forget the 6 failures in between the two 100's, those are equally as important.

I think I'd personally prefer the 25 year old with a Test average of 43 over the 31 year old with a Test average of 30, regardless of those 2 innings.

205 runs in 5 innings for Head this FC season
226 runs in 5 innings for Wade this FC season

They're in pretty similar form overall, it just makes more sense to go with the guy who's 6 years younger.

The Aust A game should be good. The batsmen are obviously competing but I want to watch Richardson and Merideth.

Head is underrated, since South Africa no one has made more Test runs for Australia. 854 runs is better than everyone else- with seven 50's. I think he needs to up his conversion to 100's but he certainly isn't dragging the chain with batting. Seven 50's from 12 Tests is certainly not drop worthy.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against it he gets recalled. He should never have been dropped for Marsh in the first place. My pick would have been Maddinson but that won’t happen now and while I really rate Pucovski, he hasn’t really done enough of late to earn a call up anyway.

So if Head is picked, I won’t be complaining.

I tell you what, Solway is pretty impressive (watch the stream on mute though, the commentator is irritating). The number 2 commentator also just said Khawaja is in good form for Qld, so yeah, says a lot there.

He's such a good prospect, I really hope it's just a tester and he's feeling fresh/fit and we don't burn him out in the process.
