CRICKET General Cricket Discussion

I think we’re going to have to seriously consider parachuting in a couple of senior, specialist openers for the Ashes.. even if it’s basically just for that series

We cannot continue being 2 for spit and 5-100 EVERY innings

And look at Englands reply. They were 5 for 70 odd and the counterattack was crazy. Until their lower order epically collapsed

wtf in 4 innings this series and since taking over as captain Gill has hit 147, 8, 269 and 161.

Man, Konstas has really pushed himself down the pecking order after this series. He averaged 10 before getting a 5th ball duck just now. He's kind of made himself unpickable in the short term.

A new Marcus Harris has emerged... except he is somehow worse 🤔🤔

Right from 1st seeing him in those Australia A games I have seen a weakness against the ball coming in .

If the ball does anything we are screwed.

4/58 lead of 140

This is pretty tough going, under lights against good bowling and a difficult pitch. Even Smith didn't look like he wanted to be out there.

Yeah there is no denying there are massive issues with the batting and we've known its been coming for a while.

That said, Green's 40 was amazing, I'd argue equivalent to a 150 elsewhere. Australia have found something there with him at 3, I'm pretty quietly confident of that.

For the upcoming summer, I'd seriously consider something a bit radical:
1. Head
2. Khawaja (on notice that this is his last series unless he turns it around, he deserves the summer)
3. Green
4. Smith
5. Inglis
6. Webster
7. Carey

I might add though, that Carey continues to be a bit of a conundrum. His counter attacking with the bat has been great, makes him undroppable at present and fair enough but he continues to drop catches, its a significant issue.
