CRICKET General Cricket Discussion

In other news as well:
- Ireland beat India in a T20!
- Jangoo in his second test for WI scored 233
- WI put on like 400 for the 6th wicket, Chase also scored 194 against SL
- Those two completely turned the match on its head

Stokes retiring after this match, doesn't seem like a happy camp. I wouldn't be surprised if they take the chance to do a reset and sack Mccullum like they should've after the Ashes.

Eng need 270 more on day 5, 6 wickets left.

There’s a bit of a widespread assumption that England beats us in the 27’ Ashes .. Tell ya what, if we can cobble together a decent XI this time next year, there’s no reason at all we can’t get the job done over there .. England just isn’t that good to begin with, and now they appear to be in or heading towards a bit of turmoil

We will win. It will be the swansong for this group and things could get ugly for a while after that though. Brook is too loose and brainless to lead Bazball, and if they sack Mccullum they don't have the talent to beat us playing conventionally. Lost their allrounder with no replacement in sight so team balance is screwed, and he's their best bowler.

He’s a massive loss and yeah it seems there are deep problems in England cricket. That said, he’s always comes across as my way or the highway.

Assuming Brook is made captain, it will be interesting to see what further changes occur and whether McCullum stays on.

Surely Root isn’t far behind. I suspect England v Aus is going to be very random in results moving forward. Where England does have an advantage is that they have introduced guys in their 20s which Australia hasn’t.

Guys like Brook, Bethel, Smith, Gay, Atkinson and Tongue have years ahead of them. For Aus, this is only Green.

Stokes has to go down as one of the most overrated sporting figures of all time. Terrible batting record (sub-35 average) interspersed with some all time great knocks. His gun barrel straight medium pacers were non threatening most of the time, but on paper his bowling record looks better than his batting which you wouldn’t have expected at the start of his career.

A dog of a bloke from what we’ve seen, too.

We need to unearth a couple of freaks like we did with Warner and Smith post the Ponting era. We’re cooked if our current batting crop doesn’t improve

I think we wouldve won last time we went to England, but it started turning when the negative bowling came out... just slowed any runs to a crawl.

In terms of the batting, Bazball still bazballed... some big scores and some shockers, but compare that to England before Bazball and they just weren't able to put up totals. They didnt have test batters outside of Root.

It will be interesting to see which way England go if they do sack McCullum, because England were basically treading water or even sinking before him... if they go back to traditional test cricket style will they even have batters that can do it??

They havent been playing traditional accumulating cricket for years now and I daresay that has trickled down to their domestic comp as well... they might have to double down on Bazball even if they sack him, but that's not really the style for any other test cricket coach around the world.
