Gould: Broncos have the look of NRL premiers.

A Facebook group my mates and I started years ago made it onto the Sunday footy show, "The No Phil Goulds Club".

He does have an excellent knowledge of RL, but his style is so grating.

If we were to win every game for the rest of the season, we would break the record for the longest streak to a premiership.

The current record is 11 set by Manly (1972) and Souths (1955).

And we would be just 2 wins off equaling the longest winning streak in history.

I think this would be an even more impressive achievement than a premiership, I would've thought. This competition is less condensed than previous years but it is still pretty fucking tight, especially in the top 4. We will definitely lose one or two going into the finals.

Re: Gus Gould's comments re: Broncos

Isn't the salary cap is designed so one team doesn't win every year?

Winning the most over the last 25 years is good enough for me.

Though I would like another reasonably soon

Re: Gus Gould's comments re: Broncos

Gould sounds like he needs a maxipad.

Re: Gus Gould's comments re: Broncos

Broncos should have won more, but dropped it in 2008 and Lockyer failed to see out the season several times too.

Re: Gus Gould's comments re: Broncos

Yeah, they should have won more.

Bennett said that not getting Kimmorley cost them 2-3 premierships.

And then you have 2008-2009 where we were knocked out by an illegal team..

Re: Gus Gould's comments re: Broncos

A leopard never changes their spots.

Somebody should remind him of Super League and how much of a tremendous influence it's had on the game and how it saved his club.

He'll crack sooner than a Parramatta defensive line.

I thought it was Johns that they missed out on?

Re: Gus Gould's comments re: Broncos

That was just a threat from Joey. He was upset the Knights didn't sign his brother, so he came up with the most heinous idea he could think of, hopping into bed with the Super League scum.

Newcastle swiftly dealt with the manner.

Not sure on the time frame when it comes to Brett but I assume it was around the time where he and Lockyer were killing it for the Kangaroos. If Brett had have signed with Brisbane, it would have changed things dramatically and I'm unsure if I agree with Wayne's assessment entirely.

Re: Gus Gould's comments re: Broncos

What an absolute unprofessional and immature thing to rant about.

That's just so unfair. I'd certainly be happy with a lot more premierships. . But salary cap squeezes out players when they get so well produced or just poached by other clubs who can't development their own talent. That's the system working. . Giving his Club far better chances at winning one themselves.

Yeah '08 and '11 were ours for the taking. Especially 2011, well before the rot set in and riding high on the Locky Farewell Tour. In hindsight, why the hell did Gillo play 5/8? I mean he wasn't the worst option by far, but certainly wasn't the best either. Damn you Beale!! :cursing:

Gould showing his true colours

Re: Gus Gould's comments re: Broncos

Winning 6 premierships in 27 years is still an impressive strike rate and I'm happy to take it. He sort of does have a point though as we have managed to let a few slip through our fingers, 2008, 2009 and 2011 as examples.

True. I mean with all our advantages we should have been able to ensure Wallace & Lockyer didn't break their ankles/face respectively...

Re: Gus Gould's comments re: Broncos

And provided Ashton Sims with a brain transplant, surely all those Friday night games could have paid for that.
