Had possibly the worst Broncos debut since James Gavet last year.

Will he bounce back?

Or will he be just another contender for worst 17?

jesus Christ mate he wasn't that bad, give the guy a go.

That's exactly what I want to know.

How long are fans on here prepared to give him a go?

1 more game?

2 more?

However long it takes?

that is the the worst misjudgment i have ever seen. yeah he dropped the ball a few times but he come up with some good runs, took a few good catches under the ball and saved a definite try of semi radradra when he was at full speed justrt metres out from the try line. give the guy a go

What are you on? He was terrible. I don't understand why some people are afraid to say that.

He might turn it around, but I have a feeling he won't last long. He really only went well against a massive numpty side.

Give him a few more chances but if he keeps dropping it he should make way. I think he's only filling in whhile Reed and Maranta and Kahu recover anyway so it's a moot point. I see him as backup and nothing more. If he can prove me wrong then he's doing bloody well.

Well, I suppose Taylor's was worse if you want to hold a compound fracture against a rookie.

Otherwise, who's been worse since Gavet?

Nikorima?
Ofahengaue?
Molo?
Garbutt?
Parcell?

Maybe they were quiet but they weren't as big a liability.

No matter how bad his game was, it will still be rated more highly than McCullough's best ever game, so he has nothing to worry about around here.

I'll give him another game. Bennett obviously sees something in him otherwise he wouldn't have been playing, albeit we did need to blood a rookie to make our 17. If he can rub those few errors out of his game I can't see why he can't be a decent first grader?

It's a bit scary that he just puts a hand out to catch the ball and tries to afl mark the ball above his head when no one is around. Looks like he has alot of errors in him. Hope I'm wrong.

garbuts first broncos game very the worst if you ask me

Sorry Eden fans, if you want to shit on Whitchurch all day and Sunday, you can't exactly give Eden much rope. I am happy to give him a couple of rounds to find his feet, as I'm sure Bennett is, but he won't be in first grade for long if she continues to drop the ball 50% of the time.

You mean his 15 minute cameo where he didn't put a hair wrong, did his share in defence (15 tackles) and made 3 runs. That's the 'very worst'?

I will be surprised to see him in the team for round 2

He needs to get his brain fades out of his system, but I liked he wasn't afraid to back himself and didn't get discouraged by his mistakes. Also has some wheels on him. Wish we could transplant Maranta's ball security on to him!

I agree with this. For me, the reality is that Oates has one wing sewn up and sadly Kahu the other (sadly cos it's such a waste of talent when he should be in the centres permanently). As well, Kahu's goal kicking is useful as a back up. Then there's Maranta as another option as back-up.

While I thought Eden's NRL debut wasn't as bad as some make out, I think he is being given 1st grade experience in case we need him to fill in if there's an injury, god forbid, to Oates or Kahu (again). I thought he ran the ball strongly and did little wrong except for those errors. At the same time, he didn't strike me as anything out of the ordinary, certainly nowhere near a threat to displace Kahu. Again, I can't see him as any chance of a being a regular 1st grade winger this year except as a fill-in.

Certainly wasn't pretty. Some of his errors were under very little pressure. Just not first grade standard.

That said....

He did show some good signs in the WCC though, and my initial reservations about his defence were allayed somewhat by his efforts on Friday.

I'd say he deserves one more shot to at least meet the basic standard. Doesn't need to set the world on fire but he's got to make his tackles, get involved, finish movements when the opportunity is there. And hold onto the bloody ball.

Failing that, we have Opacic and Seve who've made some argument for their inclusion. Then there's Reed and Maranta due back.

It's too early to write him off, but I do worry that the kind of errors we saw the other night have been in his game for quite a while and he hasn't eradicated them, which is a worry. Could be Vidot MK2 imo, and Wayne won't tolerate a player he can't trust.
