Okay so must of our opinions on maranta hunt and prince are well publicised. I want to know what people's opinions are on the bench forwards spots. I believe Sanderson should be last. Is defence is fine and he's good at making metres but has his obligatory mistake in him. He offers nothing different to our other forwards. I'd like slney to take his place. He can really step his defence up if given a chance (soo period last year) and has found the tryline twice. He seems very good at finding and creating holes. Although hala isn't in top form we all saw what he did to the cowboys. He's shown his defence is even up to scratch.

Re: hala v slyney v sanderson

Hala definitely, so much potential, maybe even more then McGuire.

Re: hala v slyney v sanderson

Slyney and Anderson are both solid, but unspectacular. Hala seems like a perfect bench prop though. He can provide massive impact if he actually avoids getting injured all the time.

Re: hala v slyney v sanderson

hala's injuries are a concern

Re: hala v slyney v sanderson

yeah, if he gets injured again this season you have to wonder if he can cut it in first grade. Maybe in a few years time when his body matures.

Re: hala v slyney v sanderson

Hala is clearly extremely talented. But why does Sanderson get put ahead of slyney. He was even.much better than hala on the weekend.

Re: hala v slyney v sanderson

Hala is a career bench player, but a very effective one, Hala for sure. Slyney a close 2nd, I rate him. I also rate Anderson.

Re: hala v slyney v sanderson

Totally different players. Hala will only ever be able to get 15 - 25 minutes a game while he's being used as a wrecking ball. Anderson is closer to a Civoniceva or Kenny player - 35 to 40 minutes of solidness, holding the fort, no backwards stop but not huge impact. But obviously not as good (plus the universally accepted error). Slyney I'll have to wait and see - I think he's technically a back-rower.

So depends on what you want them to do. If we're down a Hannant or McGuire (who are different again - the 60 minute props) then Anderson will be the next best. But for 20 minutes of terror, Hala is by far better.

Re: hala v slyney v sanderson

I know Hala has the potential, but at the moment I definitely not see 20 minutes of terror from him, nor have I seen it. I also think Anderson gets pushed backwards more than he should. I don't rate him at all, although this year he's been much better, probably the only year with us for that matter.

Re: hala v slyney v sanderson

all i want to see is hala absolutely winding up for 5 or 6 hit ups a game and steam rolling into, and occasionally busting through, the defensive line.

he's been decent in his return so hoping it happens soon.

I'll agree that Hala has not impressed yet. He's far removed from the 60 - 80 minute terror that we saw of him in the Under 20s. I was arguing a while back with someone that when McGuire burst in to the top grade, for me at least he looked a decent first-grader, had huge potential, and would be a cornerstone in the future. I've seen nothing like that with Hala. But his injuries have been pretty severe (not that I'm playing down nearly losing an eye), and I'd like to see him get a good run of 5-10 games in a row off the bench to see if he can improve and show us what he's capable of.

Re: hala v slyney v sanderson

With out full strength pack I think Hala is more essential coming off the bench just for his impact an potential to make big runs. Slyney and Anderson are more your work horse style props.

Re: hala v slyney v sanderson

Dodds would be in contention too (is he injured?). He doesn't seem to be anything more than solid, but his occasional hard hitting defence probably makes him stand out a bit from Anderson and Slyney. Anderson should be entering his peak years as a prop now, but he's probably on more money than the rest.

Re: hala v slyney v sanderson

1.ando
2.slyney
3.hala

Re: hala v slyney v sanderson

Hala for sure. I laugh every time I see his arms and shoulders. He's a goddamn juggernaut.
Anderson reminds me of a less aggressive Ashton Sims playing prop.

I can't find anything that says Slyney's a front-rower. His Broncos profile says he's a back-rower, so he's more of a back-up for Glenn, Gillett and Parker, not Thaiday, Hannant and McGuire.
