It's funny but for all the talk of the two coaches at the end of last year they pretty much emulated each others performance, at least so far. Bennet has his in the top four, whilst we sneak into the 8.
For all those whinging about how the coach somehow went from brilliant strategist last week to dud this week, consider this: we have one of the youngest sides in the eight (assuming a draw doesnt happen) and with young sides inconsistency goes hand in hand.
It would be nice to think rushing Turpin back in would pay dividends. That he had been ready to go, but obviously that didn't happen.
It would nice to think our outside backs defence, kicking game, and our young forward's drive would be on par with our previous performance but alas not so.
The question is how do we change things in a week. It really comes down to attitude and we were awful and have been for most of the year traveling.
I'm not sure why we are so much worse on the road, but between now and the start of next season someone better find out or we will be looking at disappointment again.
For next week, I'd recall SOS, drop Turpin to the bench in place of saguaro, and try and work hard during the week on outside backs reads. Other than that, or a brilliant coaching strategy (I'm not holding my breath on that one) there isn't a lot that can be done.
This is the time of year when results like last night just shouldn't happen. Perhaps they were complacent but it seems a half decent spine player in the opposition who has a few games in him can tear us apart at will.
They are young and will get better. I hope our coach does too.
