Hunt to make AFL debut

In other news, Folau failed to get a single possession against the Swans reserves on the weekend.
I have played one game of AFL in my life and I got two possession. I am 200% better than Folau.

Lleyton Hewitt played an exhibition match for the Crows a few years back. Was more impressive than K's debut. I know there's plenty of time for Hunt but there were literally zero good signs in his debut.

The only good sign was that this is the highest crowd/ratings this team is likely to get in 2011.

Usually you'd say, "it can't get any worse", but it just might.

From an AFL Fan mate of mine the Gold Coast Suns is going to be a FAIL.

That's certainly the impression I get too. And considering the Gold Coast's history with failing sporting franchises, the outlook doesn't look good for them unless they sign a few more established stars of the game. They have SFA big men in their team so they need to start there. Karmichael is pretty big compared to the rest of his team but they need more players with the physical presence of a Jonathan Brown or a Brendan Goddard.

But if the sport loving history on the Gold Coast is anything to go by, they might be getting a fair few Gold Coast United size crowds when the new kid on the block novelty wears off.

Wouldn't that make you infinitely better than Folau?

Yes, Oxy, it would. The Broncos ought to sign me as a centre.

I hate to be all Gustradamus on y'all, but I stand by my prediction that K will do well and Folau will be a flop. As much as we all laugh at the PDF and the tee-ball pedigree, Karmichael was more an athlete playing footy than a specialist footballer. I remember his first press conference as Test fullback, and how upset the media were that he knew nothing of RL history, and was more interested in basketball. But that tells the whole story. Rugby league is just something he sort of fell into. He could quite easily have gone the other way, and if he'd gone with AFL since high school he might already be an Aussie rules star.
Folau, on the other hand, owes all his success to his strength, vertical leap, and speed, and outside the rugby codes, I can't think of any sport in which he would excel.
One thing I'd love is to see (which will never happen) is for Karmichael to have a crack at the NBL. He'd make a great point guard, and I reckon the purple and gold of the Kings would look great on him.

Folau would be a pretty good basketballer or volleyballer. Or rugby league player.

Wonder if there is a market for whether the Suns will have a win this year? I'd put a heap on "No".

And I must say Karmichael improved plenty today. Still very shaky but definate improvement.

Will only get better once he is confident in himself Op

I got addicted to flicking between the Carlton v Essendon game and the Suns v D's game.

You wouldn't know those 2 games are in the same competition. Completely different skill level and atmosphere. It was doing my head in. 80,000+ at the G for a well fought draw, then the Suns v Demons at the Gabba in front of 12 people where one team was winning by 70. What a contrast!
