If Black got game time through injury then that’s a different story. Its bit bit hard to........how many games do we get out of him
A third of the season?

Not really. If he's not good enough for first grade (yet) we have plenty of other options. Just none of them look like long term solutions. If Black got game time through injury then that’s a different story.
Just don’t understand why the dogs would pay him insane overs (what it would require to get him there over the broncos imo) when they have a very good, young game manager which is beyond rare in the game atm (probably Cleary, Sexton, and ikat are the only halves under 30 that fit the bill). I appreciate that halves like Hunt are rare, but Sexton is arguably a more important commodity given his age.
DD needs to be on the phone with Sexton’s management the second Hunt signs - get him in for a year or two at 6 before he or Black takes over at 7.
I just can't with an the Coby Black talk.. I remember for so long Ash Taylor was always the ".. when bla bla takes over"I think you may be forgetting what life was like without Reynolds and the “build the next generation” shite sounds good in theory but everyone is scarred from 2020. Remember rushing out Macca for Turpin only to try bring in someone like Isaac Luke to fill the void of experience. You’re making it sound like experience isn’t a valuable asset.
No reason to rush someone like Black into first grade when you got someone like Reynolds. Mozer on the other hand has had last year in Cup and most of this year sprinkled with some NRL games so he is more primed to go.
Also I don’t see how it’s delusional to want/get both of them. They are both towards the end of the career & Hunt seems like he’s going to choose a side that is in the best position to win a prem. He’s meeting with Madge and DD over the next 48 hours so it’s definitely on the table at least.
We have no choice. When Kevvie signed Reyno, he knew he was in the twilight of his career and an essential part of his remit was to groom a killer successor. He would've seen early on Madden would not be it. He was underwhelming in the Cup. So he turned to Rogers, a Cup standard half if ever there were one.I just can't with an the Coby Black talk.. Then it was Dearden.
One of those players this forum blasted, the other they said to throw millions at.
The one this form blasted just got best player for Australia.
Halves just need time to develop. Cleary and Katoa are the exceptions. NRL clubs and fans need to chill their boots with rookie halves - they need years to learn from mistakes.
Coby Black may be the next best thing... Or he's the next Ash Taylor... And there's actually some fullback out there playing QCUP who given the right motivation and coaching could be the games halfback of the year in a couple seasons. (Think about that for a minute)
We shouldn't be pinning hopes and dreams on a kid who's never played against men at the higher level. Absolute pet peeve of mine.
Give them time in cup. Otherwise the NRL will chew them up and spit them out. ****.. even the jury is out on Mam - he may bounce back .. or he's literally the next Milford.
No one should be locking in anyone for anything in the future
Yes it is.Not really. If he's not good enough for first grade (yet) we have plenty of other options. Just none of them look like long term solutions.
I can see we have a broken 7 and no one immediately suitable to take his place, yes.Yes it is.
I’d still pick Madden before black as it stands but Black getting picked over Madden(or Rogers) isn’t the same as Black getting picked over Reynolds. I think you could see that.
(Also injuries can happen to multiple halves btw, like this year)
Keep in mind we have the NSW coach who just turned Moses into the Australian halfback. Who knows what could happenWe have no choice. That's left us with Black as our only option who isn't just treading water waiting for someone else to come along. He looks okay, certainly his kicking game is elite for his age, but he needs some time in Cup to fight his way into the team.
Those of us talking up Black are trying to be optimistic. Otherwise we'd be freaking out right now and demanding the coach be sacked. Oh wait...
