Intrust Super Cup 2015

For Souths eh?

Billy Walters looked good for Easts today. Easts pretty much dominated the Redcliffe Dolphins. Talent across the field with Easts.

[FONT=Open Sans, Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif]For the Dolphins Tom Opacic was finding it tough defending at centre against Mahe Fonua. I thought they might shift Whitchurch across but then Whitchurch ended up in the second row. He made some good runs and scored a try. His defense was pretty good too. Tyson Cleal seemed to make an impact for the Dolphins even though he looked slim compared to the East forwards.
Marlin Doak looks like he'll be on to watch with 3 tries. Nice assist from Johnstone too.

Tom really shouldn't have been playing for Redcliffe to be honest. He has been struggling badly for weeks with an ankle problem, it was his first game back after a spell out injured. I think if their season wasnt on the line he wouldn't have been playing.

Doak looks a good player. I think he is a cousin of Jharal Yow Yeh.

Yeah they mentioned some link to the Yow Yeh family in the telecast.

His great uncle was mentioned too:

Molo returns tomorrow to take on Tweed Heads in the final round of the Queensland Cup.

FRANCIS Molo will make an emotional return to rugby league on Sunday, eight weeks after he was involved in sporting tragedy.

Molo will play for the North Devils today at Bishop Park, the ground where James Ackerman lost his life on June 20 following a shoulder charge from the prop.

While Molo’s tackle was not reckless, it was technically a shoulder charge. It caused Ackerman to *suffer severe whiplash which instantly severed the arteries in his neck.
The QRL suspended Molo for eight weeks for the tackle, which was referred straight to the judiciary and was not contested.

The 115kg fringe Broncos prop was a shattered figure in the weeks after Ackerman lost his life.

He has been training with the Devils and Broncos for the past six weeks but it has only been in the past fortnight that Molo decided he wanted to play football again this season.

The Broncos have supported Molo throughout his *suspension, with coach Wayne Bennett’s patience and lack of pressure crucial to his improving mental state.

The Broncos have re-signed Molo, who is considered a *future first-grade regular.

Norths coach Mark Gliddon confirmed to the Sunday Mail that Molo would be a late inclusion for their game against Tweed Heads.

“This is an important step for him and we are all hoping the best for him,” Gliddon said.

“He could play 50 minutes or so today but it has been several weeks without playing for him so we will see how he goes.

“He has been training with us every week and his brother Michael is with us which has made things easier for him.”

Molo will be eligible for the Broncos during their finals campaign but this is the last round of the Intrust Super Cup and the Devils have not qualified for the finals, meaning this is his only chance to impress Brisbane’s coaching staff.

Molo was playing for Norths against Sunshine Coast on June 20 when his tackle left Ackerman unconscious.

Ackerman, a father of two, died in hospital on June 22, two days after the incident. Incredibly, on the day his son died, Ackerman’s father Michael phoned Francis to *assure him they did not blame him for their son’s death.

The Ackerman family has since campaigned to rid rugby league of the shoulder charge.

Francis Molo to return eight weeks after James Ackerman tragedy

Blackhawks minor premiership and a week off with the Hunters.

Wynnum up 10-8 at half time; they need to win by 22 or more to jump the Jets.

I don't think they can so it will be- Jets v Pride and Wynnum v Easts next week. Jets on 9.

Good win Ipswich. Couldnt buy a penalty in the 2nd half but didnt need it. Ie gets up to play rhe ball and Pride pakyer theows him down again. Nothing. Also clear as day no Ipswich player touched that pass that went over the sideline but ruled touched by the Jets. Touch judge needs to find a new job.

Welp. Just walked into Kougari(Wynnum) 20 to Nil. Now half time 26 - 6. Seagulls definitely went backwards when Ogden got injured earlier this year. Kinda knew it would be hard after Easts did extremely well against the Blackhawks.

Patrick Templeman’s outstanding season in the Intrust Super Cup was recognised tonight when the classy Wynnum Manly Seagulls utility received The Courier-Mail Medal in front of 350 guests at Brisbane City Hall.

Templeman, a Sunshine Coast junior who joined the Seagulls this year after a stint with the Canterbury Bulldogs, has impressed for Wynnum at both fullback and five-eighth.

The 22-year-old dominated the voting with 34 points, nine clear of Hunters five-eighth and skipper Israel Eliab (25).

Templeman’s Wynnum Manly teammate Mitchell Frei finished in third on 23 points, while Robert Lui (Townsville, 22), Ryley Jacks (Burleigh 20), Luke Capewell (Redcliffe, 19), Cameron Cullen (Mackay, 19) and Matt Parcell (Ipswich, 19) were also prominent.

The dominant season of the Townsville & Districts Blackhawks was acknowledged when the competition newcomers were presented with the John ‘Cracker’ McDonald Minor Premiership Shield.

The Blackhawks had further reason to celebrate when four of their players – Jahrome Hughes, Kyle Feldt, Michael Parker-Walshe and Daniel Beasley – were named in the inaugural ‘Team of the Year’.
