This worries me. Late last year $500k seemed like a good deal. This year he’s been mostly ineffective.

The reason for the worry is, if the Lodge leaving talk is true, it’s forced the hand of the board in to another silly retention decision. Lodge going alongside everything else would be another blow for our morale, it just feels like they felt they had to retain Ofa on big money just to have a feel-good story.

Last seasons Joffa was worth the 500k, this year not so much. I'm happy though with it, he will get back to last years form i think.

I wonder if she was homesick when Lodge couldn't get a contract registered with the NRL and was considering quitting and becoming a tradie..
Maybe its a bit different now they have a baby boy. Things can change and family comes first for me. As much as it would suck for us, i'd put family first every time.

Was our best forward last year. Well down this season, but isn't alone. Could be wrong but he looks a bit lighter?

I think we all had an inkling that there would be a bit of a player exodus when Benny left.

So be it. If they don't want to stay there are others coming through who will take their place. No one is bigger than the club and no one is expendable.
Flegler, Hass and Carrigan all look like middles who want to play for us. If Offa can lift his game we'll be sweet even if/when TPJ and Lodge do go.

It said something about her having more of a "support unit" in Sydney. I think that was referring to having help dealing with the newborn sucker.

I think this year's Offa is still probably $400k anyway.

I also think TPJ at lock is an absolute liability with my preference being Carrigan or Offa at lock.

Offa at 13 playing 80mins a game, $500k could look like a steal. He's more of a workhorse anyway and he was phenomenal when playing lock last year

I'm happy with the $500k.

That's about the usual rate for a player like Ofahengaue. He hasn't been at his best this year, but he has shown when he is in form, he's worth the $500k.

I still think it's overs. He can be solid, but he'll never be that amazing forward that leads the side. If he's on 500K, how much is Arrow worth then?

That means O’Sullivan will follow. Lot of spots in the Top 30 opening up it seems

Joffa better be running 100 metres plus every game for that price
To be honest, that also depends on how many minutes you get in the middle. I'd be surprised if he doesn't run around 100 every time we play, but I think a forwards leader needs to run 140 or 150, so obviously they also need to demand to be starting and getting the right amount of minutes too.

Apparently he has one of the best motors in the club so he should be running big metres and playing big minutes.

Joffa should be starting at lock. It's his best position IMO, and he has a pretty good offload too. Would liberate TPJ for an impact role off the bench, which he is most suited for, at least until he finds the consistency of a Jason Taumalolo, who himself took quite a while to get there...

it isn't an overly high price for a front rower these days ...

this seasons so far he has failed to make 100m 3 times ... and in each of those 3 games we had less than 50% possession. also in 2 of those 3 games he made over 30 tackles

Roosters we had 41% possession
Dragons we had 47% possession
Souths we had 43% possession

NRL.com has Joffa running for 114m against the Storm, just for arguments sake, I think he's only failed to go over 100m twice in 8 games, which is very good for a young forward.

Now that we've invested in him for the future I think I'd be starting him at Lock with Lodge & Haas at prop. Use TPJ & Flegler as the 2 impact battering rams off the bench.

Yeah ball control has been disgusting this year. How do pro footballers who have been playing the game since childhood cough up so much ball..
