THE EX Kevin Walters

I always find the "fake fan" or "not a true fan" comments absolutely fucking ridiculous.

It's fucking stupid to think that just because people want his daddy gone.
Agree. I think our club needs more fake fans at this stage. Since the profits of the leagues club seems to be more important than onfield success. Things might change a bit if we had a few less one eyed syncophants.

It's fake fans that still think Billy is only in the side because his dad's the coach. The results have nothing to do with Walters being in the side, we'd be a much better team if we had Billy equivalents in a few other positions. Cheap, hard working, no frills players.

Yeah **** kevvie for not having more 4th stringer sons.

Billy Walters with the shot of the season on all you fake fans.

"It's pretty red hot from a few, I suppose, fake fans to say Kevvie's not the right man for the job," he said.

"He took this team from a wooden spoon (in 2020) to within five minutes of a grand final (win in 2023) so I think it's pretty red hot to try and turn around after one season with the injuries we've had to say he's not the right man for the job.

"He's definitely the most passionate Broncos man going around and he knows how to win and it's definitely been on the players this year, not on Kev, that the results haven't come. So definitely, he's the right man for the job.

"It would probably be a bit disheartening if we do win all three of these games and still miss out on the eight, but again that's on us. We dropped too many games during that Origin period and we've got no one else to blame."

apart from fake fans, I agree with absolutely everything he said.

I probably would use the word "fickle" instead of "fake"

He's raises a few fairly good points though.

If you look at it from his perspective, you could say that.

Here's another perspective, 3 out of 4 seasons no finals footy, two of the seasons the side managing to pull off the biggest collapse in NRL history with one of those costing a premiership. And somehow it's a bad thing for fans of the biggest RL club in the world to not find that acceptable.

In sport, especially these days, players, coaches, admin staff all come and go fairly rapidly. Fans are literally the only ones who stick around for decades.

To call them fake fans because they think some of the current shirt fillers aren’t doing a great job is pretty insulting.

Billy has played like 60 games for the broncos. In the grand scheme of things, it’s nothing. He’s just a fan too.

Since you raised it, lets break down those seasons. Season 1 (2021) coming from the wooden spoon we improved to 14th. Season 2 (2022) we improved again and got 13 wins, very unfortunate not to play finals. Season 3, finished 2nd and played the GRAND FINAL. Back to back to back improvements year on year culminating in the closest shot we have had to a premiership in three coaches. Season 4 - the first season that we have not seen improvement as a club from winning the wooden spoon.

Kevy is the only other guy to get us there other than Wayne Bennet. He has also played a part in almost every Grand final, Premiership that we have had. 92, 93, 97, 98, 00 as a key playmaker, 2015 as a halves coach, 2023 as head coach. Odds are we don't play in grand finals without Kevy involved.

Season 4 (2024) - the first season that we have not seen improvement as a club from winning the wooden spoon.

Look at it however you like but Wayne Bennet wont play finals from 2/2 Seasons with the Dolphins. Does that mean Bennett cant coach? Bennet hasnt beaten Bellamy in 14 years. Kevy broke the hoodo and kept a storm team with Grant, Munster, Hughes to NIL.

Bennett's Broncos beat the storm in Melbourne in 2016. Thats 8 years ago.

It’s the coach who picks the team each week
Some weeks I think I could do a better job with selection

It was a 14 game losing streak that kevy broke keeping the storm to nil. Bennet is on an 11 almost 12 game losing streak.

Doesn't change the astonishing results kevy has brought to the club off the back of a wooden spoon.

This. Any random Nrl journalist could spit off pointless stats about our ladder position over the last 4 years, but true "fans" know the detail behind each year and where Kevvie's lifted us up from.

Every NRL coach ever has had a few off years and Kevvie will be no different. He's earned at least another seaaon to turn it around.

2024 was also the year our spine that took us to the grand final played something like 5 and a half games together all season.
4 games we lost without Reynolds and/or Walsh by 8 points or less, with those 2 it's fair to say we win those games and we'd be sitting 5th on the table.

Injuries have played a massive part in this years results especially our 2 main players missing which what they do for the team a next man up bloke can't.
