I'll get shit for this, but i dont really care. Its good they are rewarding people and i get its a balancing act, but i still think handing out these contract upgrades after 5 good games is a bit rash. Not saying it might not pay off, but at the same time, if we suddenly collapse again, or using Jesse as an example, if Arthars cant maintain his decent performances when we arent playing well, people are going to be talking about how stupid we are for handing out these contracts.

because in that scenario you're given the full 50 pieces of KFC.

now to make the above scenario work as a metaphor for Kev's new contract, you would need to be given say 30 pieces of KFC, and have conditions placed to get the last 20.

There is a need because it silences the critics who start to suggest that he is on the outer because he hasn't been extended. It also helps us get through the turbulence of a fickle and hysterical media if we ever lose a game or two.

Yeah it could be what gets a guy like Payne over the line to extend, if he's happy being coached by Kev he will be more inclined to want to stay if he knows Kevs the coach for atleast 2 more years.

My feeling with these long term signings and now with Kev is it’s the last pieces before Payne’s signing announcement. At first I thought it might be to throw off the disappointment of losing him but I think it’s the other way now.

I'll explain it again because it was too "dumb" for you: a deal that describes $1.7 million dollars in play is a $1.7 million dollar deal, whether or not the entire amount is paid out. Just like a jackpot of 1.7 million dollars would be a 1.7 million dollar jackpot even if you lose your stake.
