I'm just concerned with the potential link between the amount of short form cricket being played and the seeming deterioration of a batsman's ability to dig in at test level. See it even in Shield cricket. Innings are over quite quickly as players look for quick runs.

They can get away with bad technique etc with those shorter forms of the game too, and still be successful. Look at Dave Warner.

I was discussing this the other at work.

In 20/20 they bat for what 30minutes and it's either hit out or get out, there is not test of a batsmans mental strenght as they have even made one dayers into 20/20's

Exactly. And Shield games are characterised by meek capitulations, or massive totals. There's very little pressure in the 4-day games these days.

Domestic cricket standard has definitely dropped in the last 5 years.

Off to the 20/20 at the G on 14 Jan, Australia-v-England, the boys first visit to the G so can't wait.

Possibly head out to the Gabba Friday for Qld-v-Tassie, and watch Tassie smash us, but be good to see Paine in action.
