PARRAMATTA’S champion halfback and captain Kieran Foran has been stood down from football indefinitely to deal with personal issues.
The Daily Telegraph can reveal the Eels superstar has been in hospital this week because of major concerns about his health and wellbeing.
It is understood he has been emotionally struggling to cope with a relationship breakdown from his long-time partner, who gave birth to their second child recently.
He has been missing from training all week.
NRL boss Todd Greenberg has been informed of Foran’s situation and has offered to provide any support the NRL can.
“The Parramatta Eels have granted Kieran Foran an indefinite leave of absence to seek the best possible medical treatment regarding a personal matter,” the Eels said in a statement on Thursday.

Relationship breakdowns are hell, having kids involved is torture. Best wishes to him.

Interesting though that the wording is "stood down" rather than "granted time off".

Good point. We all know he's a tough bugger, maybe he just doesn't want to let his team-mates down and refused to sit out, and standing him down was the only way to make him back down.

Foran is one player I have a lot of respect for. Even though he played for Manly. Hope gets through this , and gets the help that he needs.

This is going to really **** the Eels up if he is gone long term. He has been far and away their best player.

Best of luck to him, I know what it's like when personal issues take over your life but not to that extent.

It's a prescription drug issue, he overdosed earlier in the week.
