Korbin Sims out for the season

I think I know what it is. If he managed to run that fast at someone so big, he would probably brake a bone too.

He'd probably also have one mixing with all those big fit men.

What's with you?

I had to teach myself to not always type 'break' in my job. So now for me, brake is the default, and I ALWAYS get it bloody wrong. Force of habbit or something. Your brakes will break soon. Bah.

Sims was never coming here to be a metre eater.

He was brought here to provide mongrel, which we lacked. And that's exactly what he provided. He was a no nonsense kind of guy, tackled as hard as he could and made sure that bloke felt it. He is a bloke that is willing to step over the line and break the rules to help his team (for example, when he played for the Knights and kicked that ball to Rankin).

We will feel his loss. Hopefully one of the young guys can take this opportunity with both hands and show they are worthy.

This. He provides mongrel. Just don't know why people think numbers are the be all and end all on a footy field.

Looks like the polar opposite. Locks of hair, and tall.

And another thing on top of this, when people like at a forwards numbers they generally only look at 3 things, hit-ups, running metres & tackles. Those aren't the areas Korbin excels in -

867 minutes, 5 tries, 6 line-breaks, 2 line-break assists, 2 try-assists, 26 offloads.

Let's compare that to the saviour of NSW Rugby League, Jake Trbojevic -

1,596 minutes, 7 tries, 6 line-breaks, 3 line-break assists, 0 try-assists, 21 offloads.

While I'm all for some mongrel and aggression, for a starting prop you do also need to make some meters, something that he is lacking in. Himself and Blair need to get the go forward, they are not. One or two solid and I mean solid hard hits a game just doesn't cut it.

It's just a style thing that Bennett and Co. have adopted, I think, to save energy for defence in the middle by using our big outside back to take the majority of early set hitups (which I think we are generally good at) instead of burning our props early in the match. That's why both Sims' and Blair's stats look ordinary. I'm sure if Bennett wasn't happy with their contributions, they'd be out.

For what it's worth, I'm pretty happy with what Blair and Sims bring to the table. Both aggressive and do alot of cleanup work in the middle which stands out when they go off the field. When they go off for a break, I'm always worried we look brittle up the guts. Ese, Offa and TPJ still look suss in this area.

So why not split up Blair and sims then? So they're not on at the same time doing the same thing. Have a bit more balance.

Maybe Bennett thinks they work well together and needs both of them to start to maximise their output for the team. I don't know, just throwing shit out there.

Been banging this drum for a while, start Joe or Herman with one, then rotate like for like. Have a metre-maker + 1%'er on at all times. Not rocket science imo

Even then hard to carry 2 of those in your 17 and especially without 2 dominant meter eating props, even Mcguire as good as as he isn't can't do it alone. Definitely are like for like interchanges not to be used simultaneously except maybe last quarter of game if desperate.

walked past korbin sims at garden city today. For a prop, he is tiny! We really do have the smallest front row in the comp.

Garden City? You sure it wasn't a guy working in a Cafe / Restaurant closer to the city?

Can't mistake that straw like hair and beard. Looked like Marv from home alone and his arm was in a sling. He wasn't knik tiny but as I said, for a prop I expected more size!

Yeah I don't think you actually saw Korbin. Maybe it was his doppelganger because Korbin isn't exactly tiny by any means unless your 6-10 and weigh 150 kgs then maybe he looks small to you

That's pretty much the size for props today if it was him. They are made to look way bigger on tv. I remember when I first saw Kimmorley live at the footy, he is a midget. Even Dad couldn't get over how small he was compared to tv.
