Leader of the pack!

Here's a bolter Neville Costagan ask any player how play with or against him and the all say he's a hard tough player and does have some mongrel in him.
whne does his contract finish with the dragqueens ?

I have nothing to contribute to this thread, other than to say damn you Professor 47 for putting the song 'Leader of the pack' in my head.

I met Hannant at the candy store earlier. A couple of things which could affect his potential move to the Broncos:

- He comes from the wrong side of town
- He can't ride motorbikes in the wet

i agree there good hard player and i havent seen much dirty stuff from him at all

Have to agree with Costigan. Very feared defender and his form from his last year at the Raiders and into his time at the drags has shown some good running with the ball. Just needs it to be consistently good each week and build his agression. So much potential that kid. Could have been at the point of being mentioned as first picks each year for QLD if he hadnt had bad luck with injuries and got his head right earlier. Definitely see Gordo's mental face in him sometimes.

The leader of the pack and the enforcer aren't usually the same player IMO. The exception being Tallis. It would be good to see more aggression shown by our forwards that is for sure. Setu is not a freckle on the great Tunza's ringer!!

Setu has the attributes to be a "Tallis" - strong runner, big hitter. He just lacks the one vital ingredient: heart.

And another vital ingrediant brains and knowing the right situation to try for a big shot haha

TC scared the opposition with his defence. That's about it. Not much "mongrel" to him though. Didn't have that sort of aggression raging through him.

Yeah. As good a ball runner as he was, if he was charging at you in defence you wouldn't shit yourself. With Tallis you shit yourself! LOL

As for similar enforcers who didn't have cheap shots in their game....I'm stumped if I can think of one either! LOL
TC won hardest hitter a few times, he certainly put the fear into players.

I think you misread. I meant when TC had the ball, the defence wasn't afraid of tackling him...it'd be hard, he's a big boy and runs straight, but he's not a rampager like Tallis was.

In defence, no question, you looked twice if you saw TC in front of you and you had the ball.

I reckon we have a few “enforcers”: Thaiday, Setu, T'eo, Gillett.

As for “leader”, the only one I can think of with the requisite qualities is Thaiday.

Tell that to the Bulldogs goal line defence in the 1998 Grand Final

Yeh GT is an exception - like I said, he's the best. I don't know when we will see another raging bull. Definitely one of my fav players of all time....

Not everyone can be a Tallis, but I guess I'm talking about Gun forwards who can lead the forwards around and the opposition are actually aware of their presence... Opp teams aren't really watching their back or panic mode against work horses.

I guess the SBW, Frank Pritchards, Mason (of old), Costigans, Sam Burgess, DT etc are the type of players in today's game... more of an X-factor forward... like how DT was for us last year. The opposition are aware.

We just don't have anyone in the forwards atm that fills that role. Thaiday has been nothing short of AWESOME lately and I've got major respect for him but I don't really think he's "that" top notch as people say. Good player but top shelf?
