Call it what you want boy, I really don't care but we all know that was a massive attention grabber to stir up everyone (and 7 years on, it's still having a lasting impact) for actually starting to properly support the Blues and it's annoyed the HELL out of everyone since! [icon_lol1.

7 years on, people still question it and laugh at me - Rock wins. [icon_lol1.

Yep, you're a Master Baiter! :P

[icon_lol1. 3 times in a row, maybe even 4.

Suncorp stadium is always full for Origin, even after Queensland lost 3 straight. New South Wales never have a sell out. New south wales is shit.

But Jeb, Sydney people have important things to do on Wednesday nights. That's hair washing, merkin trimming, body waxing night!

I went in 2003 game 3 when we'd lost the first 2. It was packed to the rafters and everyone was excited about the match, even though the game was a dead-rubber it mattered to QLDers.

Population of Sydney ~ 4.5 million
Population of Brisbane ~1.8 million

ie, Sydney is more than twice the size of Brisbane.

ANZ Stadium 80000
Suncorp Stadium 50000

80000 < 50000 X 2

Therefore: Sydney people are useless *****.

/argument :P

If SUncorp Stadium was 80,000 it would be a sell out every year for that too...tickets for origin sold out in 45mins.

Exactly. And yet you could walk up to Origin in Sydney an hour before kick off and get a ticket.

Queenslanders go "yes! I want to go to that game, I'll get organised".

NSWians go "oh...is that on tonight? Oh yeah, suppose I'll go..."

The passion!

:P

Irrelevant Coxy. League fans do it in Sydney at all venues - It's just the way we do things around here. We like to just rock up and buy tickets. look at the Roosters game last week. There was only about 5-6 thousand there at like 6:45pm. By 7:30pm there was 18,000.

QLD fans prefer to get their tickets straight away, and considering Suncorp only has a capacity of 50,000 or so, of course they want to feel safer by getting tickets before-hand.

I'm inclined to agree. The Test at the SCG last year is a good example. There was a large walk up thankfully. I believe ticket sales for Origin would be more impressive it was played at the SFS. That's a football venue. I'd love to see a game there with a full house.

In fact the only recent game I can remember in which there was an early rush for tickets was the St George Illawarra vs West Tigers semi-final in 2005.

Anyway we have this arguement every year when Origin tickets go on sale. Does anyone have any idea how ticket sales are going for the first game in Melbourne? I got excellent seats on the second level about a month ago quite easilly at a reasonable price. Going to the Broncos game the following Friday too (well I assume it's on the friday night).

Exactly. But it's because of the complacency of Sydney league fans that Sydney league fans know they can be complacent! If they actually cared about the game and were passionate about it, they wouldn't be complacent.

Best way to stop the complacency is to threaten clubs with extinction if they don't get big crowds ASAP. You watch the marches down the streets! LOLZ.

Wrong. Was a sell out in game 3 in 2004 and Game 2 in 2005.

And if the capacity at ANZ was 50,000 then NSW would sell out it's home games as well.

You've proven my point. NSW can only fill up their stadium when NSW are actually winning. Tickets for game 2 in 2006 up here sold out before 11am, after Queensland had just lost 3 series in a row. NSW, is, shit [icon_wink

lmao, this thread has made me lol alot, this thread is gold, NSW bashing is awesome, straight to the pool room IMO.
