Provided he can still enter the UK, he can play super league in the ‘de-registered til 2029’ scenario.

He’d still make a ton of money, not have to defend as much and by 2030 he’ll still be turning 27 that year when he can rejoin the NRL

I’m personally not 100% against the notion either - any criminal proceedings aside, the punishment should be able to be severe enough that cutting him loose doesn’t mean he simply lines up against us in round 1 2025

Or I'm sure rugby union would throw some money at him, there's a world cup coming up.

Would he even get in the country with his potential charges though?!

Bennett's mouth piece Crawley said he should be sacked and banned for the entirety of his current contract (till 2029) so as to not disadvantage us if we sack him and therefore enabling another club to pick him up cheap.

No he doesn’t, he says he thinks a year is fair given Pearce got 8 weeks for something he thinks is a lot worse than an extra two weeks so he doesn’t think 10 weeks is enough.

He wrote he sees some validity in his contract being deregistered because it supports the Broncos.

I think everyone is being too harsh on him. What he did was not good by any means, but you need to remember he returned a negative blood alcohol. There is every chance he did some drugs 2-3 days before this occurred and it was still in his system but with little to no impact on his ability to drive. Things like weed can be in your saliva for a week…

If he had returned a positive BAC and also positive for drugs I’d agree to throw the book at him, but it didn’t. We don’t even know what drug it was. If it’s amphetamine it could be dexamphetamine which is a ADHD drug, it could literally be anything at this point.

Think the drugs they test for is THC (in cannabis), MDMA (ecstasy), cocaine and methylamphetamine (ICE)

Oh Please

If he is sacked, & can't play for years, the only person to blame is Ezra.

Obviously Ezra never took up the support networks that are available.

Walsh is more in the limelight than Ezra & so far the hasn't gone off the rails.
He went off the rails in his first full year. Not a good example :D

I'm not talking about his current state of mind... I'm talking about his state of mind if a punishment like Crawley suggested is handed down by the NRL.

Thinking more about players that took their own lives when they didn't get a gig after Toyota Cup.

It's an extreme example, but it exists and has happened when a young person's life is flipped upside down.

It could be considered that the NRL actively put these people in the spotlight, because it is beneficial to them to have stars of the game prominent in media, etc. hence requirements for mandatory media commitments, etc. therefore they have some responsibility to them.

Cutting Ezra entirely from the NRL until 2029 (as Crawley suggests), pretty much kills his career and cuts him off from support networks that NRL have available to them... going down that line would be a very high risk to the NRL, given they are aware of the consequences that can occur when you flip a young person's life like that.

Removing Ezra from the NRL doesnt automatically disassociate his name from the NRL... whatever he would do moving forward would be as "former NRL star" and that is a risk to the NRL.
I think we can stand him down for 12 months and both the Broncos and NRL can still stand by and support him. Doesn't have to kill his career if it's done right.

It is going to be interesting to see what impact the Addo Carr potential sacking has on the Mam case.

My guess is no impact at all. At least from a club perspective.

Our club is unlikely to take their cue on player matters from how the Bulldogs deal with theirs.

Besides, the Bulldogs were all set to stand by JAC ... Until he lied to them

Are you for real or just taking the piss

MDMA and Meth are both amphetamines
MDMA is detected as an amphetamine .

But take as many opioid as you like they aren`t on the test .

JAC was also overpaid, always injured and has been a mouthy player. Dogs got to weigh that against the breach of contract and decided to free up that salary cap space.

How other clubs do things is also not the benchmark for how we treat our own. Ezra appears to at least trying to be doing something to make up for his error. JAC just laughed and lied.

Dogs got what they needed from JAC, now they can get value for money elsewhere.

Assuming we keep Mam which in my opinion we probably will, how long would he be suspended for?

When are we expecting the results to Ezra's drug test......?
