Ezra checks out of rehab next week. He's been in contact with Madge via phone while in there. He probably won't turn up to training until after Xmas, or well into the NY. The Broncos are bracing for the NRL Integrity unit to impose a two or three-month suspension (8-12 rounds).

Donuts:

“The club was notified this afternoon that charges have now been laid. We will respect the legal process and will continue to work with the NRL Integrity Unit on next steps, as this matter moves forward. Ezra is currently seeking external support and we will give him the time and space to do so. As the matter is now before the courts, we are unable to make further comment on this matter.”

Madge:

“As a club, we will talk to Ezra, his manager and the NRL about how that will progress. Those are the discussions I need to have with Ezra. I’ve had some contact with him while he has been in rehab. The reason you go to rehab - you go in there to bring change to your life and understand yourself and know how grateful we are for the things we have. In terms of the culture of the Broncos and who we are as a club, that’s what I hold as sacred, so they are the things I need to sort out with Ezra. Sometimes people lose their way, but you can find your way again and that’s our plan for Ezra to get back to his best. I believe Ezra has to own where he is at and I believe he will. He is in a very serious situation and he needs to work hard to turn things around.”

I reckon when the time comes, his lawyer will claim that too many of his brothers are locked up and that people are racist towards him. This idiot could of killed people.

So he's been charged with the lesser of the two charges we have in QLD. So I'm pretty sure that means present in system, but not fucked up.

Let the lad play footy.

And miss out on a chance to **** the Broncos? Nahhhhhh.

if he gets Half a year suspension or less I would take that as a win, I was expecting a full year given anything a Broncos player does at any time suddenly means the NRL needs to crack down extra.

Probably come out of rehab fatter and slower than milford. And won't start training till next year. One way or another I can see it screwing us. Give his money to Ben hunt.....or not. I'm not too invested either way.

He would almost certainly be training with the Squad soon tbh, when Jack De Bellin was suspended till his court case was sorted he was training with the team the entire time.

Despite Mam being a jackass for his recent incident, if Madge can unlock the dynamic Ezra everyone saw in the 23 GF, he is definitely worth holding onto. Those 3 tries he scored were not flukes. He has much more upside than Hunt.

He is too good a player to be on the scrapheap at his age.

QLD laws are so lenient.

Those charges were to be expected.

Many fans get off seeing an uppity player being brought down a notch, but it's the club (the fans) who'll suffer. A suspension more than a few weeks could kill our season.

This is why I think punishment for crimes such as this should be left to the courts. They punish the individual, not the employer. And that's justice.

Ezra has been charged with drug driving:

Police will allege Mam, 21, was driving a Ford Ranger utility north-east along Simpsons Rd on October 18 when it struck an Uber, travelling in the opposite direction, near the intersection of The Drive. Mam was subject to a roadside drug test where he allegedly returned a positive result. He was detained for further testing requiring bloods to be taken at hospital which was conducted independently of the QPS. It will be alleged the secondary test returned a positive result on Tuesday, November 12.
On November 13, Mam was charged with one count each of drive while relevant drug is present in blood and drive motor vehicle without a driver’s licence.
He has been issued a notice to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on December 16, and also been issued with a traffic infringement notice for fail to maintain control of vehicle.
I'm pretty sure Ezra will plead guilty to all charges.
His lawyer can then argue for any mitigating circumstances.
He'll want the legal side of this put to bed asap.

Then we get onto the NRL.
Can't see them giving him a lesser ban than that roosters player got for trash talking him in vegas.
Only guessing but I'd say 8 - 12 weeks plus a substantial fine.
I just hope whatever the NRL do they get on with it so we can push ahead with plans for 2025.
He should still be able to play a significant part in that.

He's just a dickhead who i've got very little time for. He better learn from this because while nobody has been seriously hurt physically this time, if it happens again it could be far worse. I'd wipe the little prick out for a year just to enforce the message.

And the players still gets paid while sitting on the sidelines for all that time.
Their job is to play footy, I know for a fact if I got in trouble outside of work I'd still have to go do what I'm paid to do.

Should be a suspension without pay and that money goes back into the clubs cap for that time.
Or a fine for the player and they get to continue playing.
