THE BOSS Maguire Stomped The Naysayers! But...8 Months Later, Here We Are.

The training is all mapped out based on data from games and loading. Performance staff with Madge work out what the week looks like based on data, injuries and turn around.

It's not just Madge flogging them.
So what's the deal with the players then?

Why are they so lethargic in games with zero line speed and getting completely dominated by the opposition in attack and defence.

I'd really love for us to head hunt Willie Peters. What he has done with Hull KR, he could do with us. He has shown a strong ability to build a side from basically nothing.

I'm on the fence with Madge and am not prepared to judge him until he completely rebuilds the squad, unless this happens we will go round in circles by sacking the coach and getting the same results.
Serious question, is there a coach out there that could win a comp with these pansies?
52 wins from his last 140 games in the NRL since the start of 2016.

No finals appearances

Madge to me looks like an outdated dribbler whose only course of action is yelling and screaming.

He won a comp in 2014 with a roster Crowe/Richardson built for him signing Inglis/Burgess.

Looking at Maguires origin team selections last year he didn't pick Yeo at starting 13 all series. Arguably the best ball playing, link man lock in the game.
Maybe that's Maguires style to not have that.
I've seen a few posters suggest Carrigan is getting in the way sometimes, could be all just Madges style he wants them to play.

Some shit has come out on 360 tonight:

- Apparently Madge gave them an almighty spray in the "behind closed doors" dressing room gathering post game.

- 360 and 100% Footy both asked Dave Donaughy to come on to the show to answer questions, he knocked both back.

- Rothfield and CONEHEAD blaming the coach (surprise), Brent Reid blaming the players, Anasta on the fence

- All of them really put the board and administrators on blast (probably salty cause Donuts told them to **** off) but can't really fault them being brought into the discussion, Madge and the players have copped plenty so why not them?

- Rothfield practically begged Haas to leave, miserable old ****.

Donuts refusing to front up was the most interesting discovery, not sure what's going on there. He probably has an opinion on what is going on but discretion dictates he can't share it.

Yeah I thought that actual vision of Donaghy and Madge alone in the dressing room was quote telling. Again, I am no body language expert, but it looked almost like a headmaster - naughty student situation. Donaghy appeared to be quite agitated and giving Madge a 'gentle' dressing down. Madge looked somewhat defeated and taking whatever was being said to him like he was being admonished by Donaghy. I have never seen Madge appear so fragile looking. I hope he can turn things around, for his own sake.

Probably more like DD just doing small talk or crapping on about something and Madge quietly fuming that he can't barenuckle bash every player in the next room

There is no way that DD is looking to sack Madge or looking to put increased pressure on him.. he cannot sack Kevvie after he got them to the 2023 GF to then sack the next guy within like 6 months of appointing him.

Oh I don't find that hard to believe, the Marty sacking shows that they want to keep a lid any issues and behind closed doors.

The false positive spin and nothing critical in the post match pressers is all just a front. Reyno is towing the line and basically just repeating what Madge is saying that everything is all hunky dory.

Madge comes across as a bit paranoid and scared of criticism, it feels like this is going to implode Seibold style.

LOL, you might be right mate, Madge wishing he had his baseball bat handy hah. But in all seriousness, it was almost like a disapponted father pleading with his son, "look mate, you have to change your ways, otherwise there's going to be some trouble". Donaghy being the disapponted father of course and Madge being helpless and just so unsure of himself as the troubled son.

Is sad to see a strong man like Madge appearing so befert of ideas and seemingly uncertain of just how to climb out of an ever deepening hole.

Whoever decided to give the players all the power in last year's independent review, that resulted in a coach being sacked and the player's being let off the hook, needs to fall on their sword if this season ends the way it's predicted to. Not only is it looking like they selected the wrong coach, it's also looking like we need a massive cleanout in the player department. We're now another 12 months behind where we could be in terms of refreshing our roster and we'll soon be competing with Perth for any prospective player signings.

I would hope that all those individuals involved in making the decision would be feeling pretty embarrassed for ****ing up this bad, but like everyone involved in the club these days there's zero accountability. Tough times ahead for us Broncs fans.

Edit: Just wanted to add that I feel a bit for Madge in this scenario. I doubt he had any idea what he was walking into with these players and I don't think he was prepared for just how much of a spotlight is on the Broncos compared to other clubs. He looks like he's imploding with the same force as the Titan sub.

If it was a serious talk between the two then it's more likely DD asking him what is it that I can do to help you?

DD is a career man and Madge is the biggest call he's made in his career to date so he can't afford for it to fail, because if it does it's a massive hit to his career ambitions and he would be following Madge out the door.

I'd say DD has never been more invested in a season than this one and is basically giving Madge a blank cheque book to give him anything to turn the results around.

It might be as you say where he's suggesting that Madge change his ways... but I don't think DD is a football man with footy knowledge... so it wouldn't mean much for him to say that he needs to change... DD has never played the game.

I do think DD is still trying to find a new Ikin as well... I know the role is apparently filled by Troy Thompson, but I think the role he's doing is actually just the Steve Walters role as a team manager, which is what Ikin got relegated to after Kevvie cracked the shits.

DD would want to find his Gus to have a footy man on the inside that isn't just the coach.

I still think Ikin leaving was a massive loss to the broncos and if Ikin was still with the broncos then I think he's the kind of guy that would be able to talk to individual players on a personal level and probably get a decent understanding of what's happening and how they're travelling.

I get the feeling that he would be the arm around the shoulder kind of guy, but he's also very intelligent and has a good insight in the way he looks at the game.

Surely there are perfomance clauses in Madge's contract, which would be another reason why he's looking so frazzled

Do you all realise we are apparently cycling through the 4 coaches we interviewed in 2018 to replace Bennett. We started with Seibold, went to Walters, now on to Maguire. The final one to complete the set is JD.
So true, please not JD nextttttt

There is still one huge anomaly that has me baffled.

We started the season looking like world beaters, so the cattle we have has shown they are capable of putting a good team effort together.

However, we were playing mediocre by the time the dogs game came round but we went out that day and absolutely destroyed them. It was as if they all flicked a switch for this one game that most people had written them off for, but then after that they returned to their 'don't give a shit mentality' form.

Is the team silently saying - "look we are able to beat anyone, even the top of the table team when we really want to, but we're effectively on strike in silent protest of the way things are being run at present".

It's the only reason i can think of to explain how woefully inept they are playing at present. I mean our attack is capable of destroying a team we've all seen that, but at the minute something is holding them back from playing as a team. It's like they don't even want to score.
It was an illusion. Rewatch the game, bulldogs were diabolical.

We scored a fluke try in the first minute
The dogs copped a sin bin 10 minutes in, and then 2 more sin bins throughout.

We still managed to lose the second half by 3 tries to 1, despite the dogs having 12 players for the last 20 minutes.

Basically, there was 0 adversity - which we all know the broncos can’t handle
